I find Cream of Nature and Revlon products in general, leave afro-textured hair much more dry and brittle than necessary. Then we have to go and put grease in our hair. Actually, I have a problem with most general brand shampoos. They are made for those with straight hair.
I have found that salon shampoos and conditioners are best. They are pricy, but worth it. The best I have found so far is the Aveda Brilliant Line (blue and white bottles). Their sap moss line is also good. My husband has also used the brilliant line on his very thick, coarse hair and LOVES it!! I use on my daughter's natural hair and LOVE it!! The comb slides right through the hair and the hair retains moisture for a long time, so I do not have to use grease in my hair-- or my daughter's. No tangles, no problems.
Keracare is also a good brand and is geared for African-Americans. However, it doesn't retain moisture as long as Aveda does and the hair is still a bit difficult to comb out after washing. The harder to comb out, the more stress on the hair, and the more breakage. More breakage, shorter hair.
Redken also make good products. Extreme anti-snap reduces breakage and is even good for nails.
I also use quality combs and brushes. Again, most of the general brands are made for straight hair, which does not get as stressed when using these inferior tools. Mason Pearson boar bristle brushes are best. Also, handut combs such as Kent are best. They snag the hair less and this leads to less breakage. Breakage of course, is the reason why our hair cannot hold onto growth.
Stop using run of the mill shampoos, conditioners, etc. on your hair and it will look more the way you want it to-- without all that grease weighing it down.
If you're looking for a shampoo and conditioner combo, I would recommend Cream of Nature. I think it's better for our type of hair because it makes the hair soft and has some detangling properties. I don't know of ANYONE who has had a bad experience with Cream of Nature shampoo/conditione
I used to use it for for six years and I got results Dandruff and dead flakes sticking out of my hair. I guess its my reaction to it. The brand name changes in Asia. Thet called it Rejoice here. Some people have no problem using it, but I do.
