Hi,
I am a stylist. I don't have alot of experience with ethnic hair. I have a client who has been bringing her daughter to me to straighten her hair once a week. She is half white/black. Her hair is leaning more toward the very coarse side with curls the size of tooth picks. I need to use a chemical relaxer on it to make it easier to straighten but I am at a road block. I can't seem to find many pro products for this. I noticed Paul Mitchell has a relaxer.
Does anyone have any suggestions? She is 6 years old.

I am in the same boat as your little client. I have had nightmarish experiences with Black stylists who treat my hair like it's brillo just because they see a little kink. They over process it with too strong relaxers that I don't need. Right now I am afraid to even get another relaxer. But when I don't I have a lot of shedding. I am wearing my hair curly for the summer, because in this year's humidity, straightening it is a joke.
If I could give you any advice I'd say use a mild relaxer and leave it on a short time. That's what I plead for and get better results when I can get them to do it. They only rinse my relaxer when I act like I'm in unbearable pain. I really am frustrated.
