sandy, a friend of mine, recently cut off all of her hair. she is afro-american and did wear her hair all her life. from one day to another she went to a typical barbershop and requested a smooth headshave - and she got one oh so smooth!

she looks great with her head shaved smooth. her skin is so soft and she has the ideal head shape to wear very short hair or the shaved look.

who of u had her head shaved too before? how were your experiences? sandy got more requests for dates than before, and she changed her dressing style. now she dresses more feminine and sexy, she is just a hit!

I have seen Black women with shaved heads before, some of them look very good bald if they have the right head shape and features.

Have you ever seen the African-American singer Janice Robinson? She keeps her head shaved. She looks great with a bald head, her head is very smooth, it actually shines it is so smooth. She looks good bald but not every woman would.

It seems to me that a woman either looks very good bald or not good at all. Either they have the look for it or they don't.

By the way;
thanks for the B-mail shinydome.

tina, i've visited the united states several times. i've seen a lot beautiful black women with completely shaved heads, especially in new york, l.a. and san francisco. i even talked to some of them. most of them chose the bald look only for the summer period, but some even stayed bald all the year. some of their husbands were bald too, but most of them had hair. i even met a baldheaded couple with their also baldheaded kids, a girl at the age of maybe 16 and a boy of 11. they were proud to be a bald family.
i talked to the mother. she told me that the day after she had shaved her head her daughter requested to get her head shaved too. 2 days later followed her brother. that sounded like the story of demi moore. bruce was already bald (for his part in '12 monkeys'?) and demi shaved her head smooth too after her part in 'g.i. jane'. no wonder that rumour, their daughter wanted a bald head too, but they didn't allow it.

most of the bald black women were nearly as tall as me. on tall slim and a bit musculous women the bald look is incredibly sexy, especially when they dress more feminine than before.

tina, do u know other bald women? why did they shave her head? reasons of fashion or just for fun?

Hello Shiny and Tina.
You are chatting with the right lady Shiny. I shaved my head when I was attending college some years ago. That is when I picked up the nickname "Bald Jasmine". I still wear my hair short to the extreme, in a cut close to the scalp afro.
I'm in my 30s now, married with 2 kids. I haven't shaved my heads for years and probably won't go back to that style anytime soon. I'm a relationship/marriage advisor and I'm not so certain how the folks that come to me for advice and couseling would take to me with a shiny bald head,(although if I really wanted to shave my head again I wouldn't let that deter me, and there are wigs).
I am not tall like you are Shiny, as you told us on the other board. I am more or less average height and weight.

When I was attending the university I dressed a little as a wild one when going out on Friday or Saturday nights.. I was very into the sexy, skimpy clothes, high heels or platforms, short skirts or hot pants, tight halters , big hoop earrings, lots of makeup, a shaved bald head, the whole crazy bit. I loved it. I'm more conservative now. I guess that just comes with age, marriage and kids.

Black women to me seem to be the most confused of all races of women about their hair. So many Black women want the straight long hair they see on other races of women. I am not being critical but I feel an African/American woman shouldn't try and emulate other races of women. Our beautiful African hair is naturally nappy and there is many attractive ways that we can wear our hair. Black women who are comfortable with themselves and their hair can wear their hair natural, and short, and look feminine and feel wonderful about themselves. I am hardly a Black radical or a militant feminist, I'm college educated, middle class, a mother and actually married to a White man, but I have chosen to wear my hair in a close crop,short afro because;
I like the way it looks on me,
it is my natural hair,
it is easy to take care of,
it is a tradition of Black women
it is liberating.
Good enough?

Take care ladies.
.

Thanks for telling us a little about yourself Jasmine and your ideas. You sound really smart!.

I have seen bald women around Shinydome but I don't know any personally.

I should tell you I am not African-American. I am a Caucasion woman with blue eyes and short blonde hair.
