flammable hair

My sister had a curl done. We both us curl activator and gel to moisturize.
My sister went too close to an open flame, yes, just like Michael Jackson, her hair went up like a bond fire. Her hair and head was engulfed in flames.
The doctor at the hospital said the chemicals on our hair is like a combustable when near flames, BBQ's, a lighter, hot lights.

Does anyone know or has anyone heard of this happening before? Please, I need to talk to anyone. This has never really been discussed, but some of us are sitting on a time bomb after we leave our salons. These products should say if they are that dangerous.
I need help. My sister survived the burns, all 2nd & 3rd degree and is slowly recovering. The danger is over, but now she needs to go on. Please everyone be careful. Thanks, Denise... Let me know if you've ever heard of this ever before. We're hanging in there!
