Hey, ladies
Help....What's the deal on hot oil treatments? Are they really beneficial to hair health/growth/condition and how so? Are they done BEFORE shampooing and conditioning or AFTER? How often? Also, are the kits you can you can purchase at BS stores better or can you use other oils? Help....

Got this from another board it explains Hot Oil Treatments good:

Hot Oil Treatment
Used for hair that lacks moisture and needs additional moisture to replenish the hair shaft.
Best for dry hair and scalp, chemically treated, and natural hair.
How to use: Massage through wet/dry hair. Cover with a plastic cap. Sit under dryer for 15-25 minutes. Or let sit for 30-45 minutes. Then shampoo and condition.
Suggested products: African Pride Wonder 8 Oil, Khamit Kinks Hot oils, EVOO

According to the book "Hair Rules!", hot oil treatments do NOT moisturize the hair and scalp. They are meant to be used before shampooing to lift oil and product residue off the hair and scalp to make the shampooing more effective. Hot oil treatments can also be used before coloring to make color adhere better. Again, this is all according to the book.

I have found that hot oil treatments applied before shampooing lubricate and moisturize my hair and scalp so that they are not stripped during washing. I usually use African Royale Hot Six Oil; I've also used PhytoSpecific Revitalizing Treatment with good results.

I have just ordered the Phytospecific relaxer and a deep conditioner (i can't think of the name right now)- have you used it or any other phytospecific products? If yes, what were your results
