I am a guy who has thick naturally curly hair. I mean, it will curl up to practically a fro-like state. But I wanna grow it long--and have. I now use either a straightening iron or blow dryer or both and I can get it to a pretty straight/wavy state, but it gets poofy sometimes. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to tame the poof?

The length will weigh down the "poof" eventually... that was the case with me, and with MOST curlies. But if you're growing out, heat tools will cause
(a) dryness that leads to static and
(b) midway breakage (self-cutting hair!) or split ends that MUST be cut off otherwise they'll destroy more and more of the strand. It defeats the purpose of growing that way. I say stick with products-only while you're growing.

Hope this helps
