get your hair steamed at the salon, the heat will allow more moisture to penetrate in. DOnt use protein treatments for TR hair. Its better to use moisturizing treatments. You dont want bulking your hair with too much protein, but you want to really moisturize it.
Thanks a lot, will do and try to get rid of those straight ends soon so I can stop heat treatments.Sad thing is I am going to India for a few family weddings and just being in India means look good everyday versus here, since I'm not working, look best only on weekends.....Maybe I can use wet gel and tie them up :-( I wish I could consult someone by showing the hair(my TR expert brushed me off)....and yes, the hair usually are falling from the root, so its probably the blow drying I do before the flat ironing causing it. I am also trying to use henna every few weeks (with stuff like eggs and yoghurt in it).Do you think protein treatments will help?
I'm sorry about what happened! It sounds terrible!
Is the hair actually coming out with the root attached? Breakage mid-strand is more likely because this is your second TR, and hair can get very brittle after multiple treatments. The best you can do is condition well and baby your hair for the next few months. Don't even blow dry or flat iron (they'll only make processed hair more brittle. You'll want to lay off ALL heat appliances until your hair gets long enough to cut off the processed ends).
The other thing is to detangle very very gently with fingers or a wide toothed comb-- no brushing for awhile-- and keep doing those oil treatments. Do read the ingredients on your oil: if it has mineral oil or petroleum products, find a natural oil like coconut or olive oil instead. It will be gentler and less drying to your hair.
Sorry for the tough love... here's another ((((hug)))) for you. Good luck
Thanks for responding! I do use oil on my hair twice a week but that has not prevented the hair from fallind(I use Kera Care) but am not sure how I can grow the hair out gracefully.I am trying to minimise straightening to once a week only!I really did not anticipate this much damage from TR....
(1) The first thing you want to do is stop any heat, chemicals, and dyes you're currently using. (includes blow drying) (2) Condition well, preferably with two different conditioners (see recent thread called "I need help" in this forum) and deep condition weekly or every two weeks (3) Do deep oil treatments (see recent thread in this forum with the pink smiley, I hijacked to post about oils when MizzP stopped posting here.)
Hope this helps, and here is a (((hug))) for you Anais
I had 2 Trs done and a few months after the 2nd TR, my hair started to look very coarse and dry and fell a lot(they are probably half from when I had my 1st TR, but I had very thick hair to begin wih) nd now I have roots that are about 5 inches curly and I flat iron them everytime. With that level of heat, I feel like my hair have got damaged even more. I would have cut the staright part out to grow the curly ones bu short curly hair look awful on me.
Does anyone have any tips on how I can restore the health of my hair or at the very least prevent any further damage.
