Hi, i got a litte bottle of aloe vera oil...not gel. can i use it on my hair? can i use it alone or do i have to mix it with sth like jojoba oil? Will it dry out my hair or is it moisturising? Thanks
I'm no plant expert, but I have owned an aloe vera plant in the
past and what comes out of it isn't really an oil, its more of a
.....watery slime. So there must be another type of oil added to
it to make it an "oil". What are the ingredients in it, or does
it say 100% aloe vera oil?

Well, I found 2 things on it, one says it's really just the gel
extracted from the aloe vera leaves, the other says it's the extracted
gel mixed with soybean oil. Sounds like what you describe is
probably just the first one without the added oil. I've never
heard of anyone putting it in their hair, nor tried it myself, so I
really don't know if it would be good or bad (I haven't heard of anyone
putting soybean oil in their hair either). It's certainly good on
skin. If you try it and its good, let us know!

There are so many good hair conditioners, why would you want to use aloe vera on your hair? I know some people on here don't use drug store products on their hair, but I find the L'Oreal shampoos and conditioners are great. I use the ones for colored/dry hair.
**Hair type: 2a, which is wavy and fine.
**Color: Naturally dark brown, currently dyed reddish brown.

Actually Aloe Vera is good for the hair. You can actually buy Aloe Vera shampoo and conditioner. I'm not sure about the oil, but I use Aloe Vera gel mixed w/ virgin coconut oil and EVOO as a pre-shampoo treatment. I've never applied just the gel to my hair, but the mixture I use tends to make my hair very soft and manageable.

2. Aloe Vera Nourishes the hair and scalp by moisturizing them. In addition, its anti-biotic properties keep the scalp healthy and free of bacteria and fungus which can lead to scalp and hair problems. It also contains many of the products that seem to be effective in fighting hair loss. Like biotin, b-vitamins, zinc and even inositil. In addition the moisturizing qulities when applied to the scalp increase the blood circulation to the hair follicle. It:
Nourishes and moisturizes the hair and scalp.
Keeps scalp healthy thanks to its anti-biotic properties.
Promotes hair growth due to the many hair friendly vitamins it contains.
Increases blood circulation to the hair follicles.
I have some aloe vera gel; on the bottle it says that it can be used
for hair gel. I've used a little as a moisturizer/anti-itchies on my
scalp/hair a few times when I've dried out my hair and scalp.

I never heard of the oil before either...are we all talking about the same gel. I use aloe vera gel from fruit of the earth (sometimes) it is multipurpose and u can get it in the sun tan section for sun burns...But the aloe vera gel i used is from GNC, a health food store, its drinkable and its great on your skin and hair.
this is what i found on aloe vera oil
Latin Name:
Shelf-Life: months.
Aloe vera has been used for centuries due to the beneficial effect it has on the skin, and this carrier oil combines the benefits of Aloe vera with the ease of a carrier oil.
Aloe vera is said to encourage skin rejuvenation, healing of wounds and treatment of sunburn. It is also used to help in relieving arthritis pain, improving blood circulation, reducing scarring, and has anti-inflammatory properties. It has been known for generations as an excellent plant to have around to help reduce inflammation, pain and itching, to accelerate wound healing, a superb penetrating moisturizing agent, helping to stimulate the body's immune system while being naturally hypoallergenic with about the same pH balance of the skin.
Aloe vera massage oil has great healing quantities which makes it a good choice to use on its own, or to include when mixing a massage oil or to include when mixing a massage oil or preparing a carrier oil blend for aromatherapy massage.
