I like Karen`s ideas.
I think it depends on the type of job you are trying for too. If you`re going to wear a suit and meet with a supervisor from a major insurance co. or something of that nature I would go with something bringing the hair up. There`s a lot a stylist could do for you besides a bun. I find for things like that it gives you an extra lift & confidence to go have a stylist do your hair for the day. If its something more "relaxed" like a pottery instuctor or library assistant, then I think you could get away with a more "relaxed" style as well.
I think the key is to look "finished" and neat with your hair. I personally have very long hair and when I am doing a professional gig for my companies I either roll my hair into a French Twist or a 3 strand braid that I pin underneath at the nape. Sometimes I will resort to a fat chignon coiled near the nape of my neck. The key is to feel comfortable so that you can be your best in the interview.
Good luck.
Best wishes, Karen

I reckon that for an interview, either a bun or braid is the way to go. And given the importance of interviews then if you have to pay a stylist to braid it then it might be worthwhile.
The important thing is that your whole look has to be right, rather than one single element of it. If your hair is in tip-top condition and it goes with your outfit, then just holding it back with a hairband or barrette might be enough, but it has to look good the whole time - there is no point in looking great at the start and then deteriorating over the course of the interview LOL
Good luck with the interview, hope you get the job!

At the risk of sounding sexist, if you came to my interview wearing your hair down to your waist, I`d probably give you bonus points and then a contract offer including a clause saying "I agree to never cut my hair."
I`m currently looking for a job and I`m wondering whats the best way to wear my long hair to an interview so it looks neat and professional? It`s at waist length and wavy. Is a plain old bun the way to go? I really don`t know how to braid my hair to well, so that`s probably not an option. Any other ideas?
