QuoteReplyTopic: WaWa Curl Aft Getting Flocked *PICTURES* Posted: April 06 2005 at 12:11am
sherrie, I think I sent you some pretipped ones in that mix I sent. They were the 18" dark blonde kinda goldish toned ones. I've never seen it online but it has to be out there somewhere, I bet.
The madam 2K is the hair on the right in this photo. When I get home tomorrow I'll see if I can upload a photo of the tag. It's advertised as REMY.
Damn, that's a diverse head, AMM. It just goes to show that mixing and
matching pays off. I've never heard of the Madam 2K before either, but
it sounds like a hell of a find for BSS.
OK, so it's actually the reverse then: human curls faster than WaWa.
I'm thinking that when you put in your PH, it'll probably curl in less
time than human (and thus less than the therm), so you may want to
remove those rollers even quicker. Then again, there's a benefit to
letting them cool completely. Anyway, I'll be interested to see your
findings.
I have two sets of rollers now: an older Clairol Kindness set, and a
new Revlon Jumbo set. The difference between them is striking: As Karen
noted earlier, those old ones get so much hotter (and yes, I've burned
myself here and there). I've noticed that I can leave those ones in the
PH for like 3 minutes and the hair is incredibly curly, but with the
newer (and larger) ones, it takes closer to the recommended time.
:)

Yep, got the Glamour in there as well. The darker underlayer is all
WaWa in the auburns and there's strawberry blonde in there, too. If
you look toward the bottom you'll see some really dark ones - that's
dark wine in Hot Stuff thermal synth. There's a lot more WaWa in
there than HH. I hate to tell you what I have a lot of on top but I
must - my Hairlocs hair that I've had for one year. I'm always
rotating that back into the mix because those gold blondes are da
bomb.
Now for those reading, I do not nor will I ever endorse Hairlocs. I
just so happened to have gotten an exceptional batch of hair that's
lasted a year. This is NOT the norm.
'k, with that out of the way, there's also a brand called Madam 2K in
there which is also one that's lasted quite a while. This is not a brand
that has good recommends but it's been soft and in great condition
for me. I got it at a bbs (cringe).
The human hair curls MUCH more than the WaWa. Matter of factly, I
have to remove the hh in less than half the time I keep in the roller
for WaWa. If I leave it in too long with hh, the curl springs up against
my head it's SO curly.
Oh, two little experiments I did last week -- putting 613 WaWa and
Hot Fusion in hot, brewing tea and coffee and letting it sit all day does
nothing. It didn't drop the color of the hair at all. I really thought it
would take at least a little bit but it didn't.
AMM: You've got a mix of Glamourhair and WaWa in there right? (And I'm
sure random strands of everything else....) If I'm correct, the darker
hair underneath is the WaWa, and the lighter hair above is the human
glamourhair, yes? I'm just asking because (if that theory is correct),
it actually looks like the WaWa took the curl a little better than the
glamourhair. It looks a bit curlier to me, anyway. :)
LuckieDuckies - The hair on top is a combination of #613 (very little and always blended with something else), #10, #18/22 blend & #27. So, there's about 5 different shades in there. When the hair is down, it's a very gradual color change to dark. There's no distinct cut off point. This is actually one of my better lowlight installs I've done.
Fina - I just put in some strands of the Hot Fusion wavy last night. Up until then they've only been laying around pretipped. I haven't had a chance to do anything with them yet but I'll let ya know!

I guess it's my lucky day. After I saw Amm's picture I was ready to head to Walmart for the flocked rollers. I stopped at a thrift store along the way and there was a brand new set for $2. Great hair AMM!
