QuoteReplyTopic: micro polomer cross-linking treatment???? Posted: April 14 2005 at 3:00pm
personally i just think its the way the customer is handling the hair as its her first extensions. She had short hair prior to install (about 4inches) and now she has 18" locks. She must be used to just blasting her hair with a hair dryer and not really having to deal with the day to days of long hair. I gave her some suggestions to try and if that doesnt work then she will come see me (its just she lives alittle far away) saves her coming all the way over if its something simple.
I feel myself that the bohyme hair does look different when washed ( a bit bigger) but nothing major. Ive found all extensions to be the same.
I called the company to ask about the micro-polymer but they just says that it is invisible to the eye and makes the hair silky. This didnt really explain it for me as dubious that its just basically a silinole coating. Could it be cellophaning that they do??

Thanks chick. Im interested in trying it as it says that it lasts for 100 washes anyway. Dont you hate it when companies use fancy words to make something out to be something its not! Ive been really impressed with Bohyme until one of my customers complained about the quality today?? after only 7 days with it in. She described it as horse hair?? I cant understand this as all other 14 customers i have used bohyme with have no probs. It made me think of Raccon again but its way to expensive.
Im deciding between trying the micro-polymer hair but not sure as it is still pretty dear and they dont do samples
Have her come in so you can see what the hair looks like now. My guess is it's just coarser than her own hair, and she doesn't like that texture. Maybe not a good hair type for her in the future.
ahhh yeah, Ive seen a lot of "glossers", the clear dyes. I used to use them over my hair when I colored it red, because that color likes to fade a lot. Thanks for the 'splanation

Cellophane is a semi-permanent color that doesn't damage your hair...I think it's made by Sebastian?! It's an 80s thing...in its day, it was a big rage. It came in lots of colors from mild to wild - would slightly color your hair and make it really shiny, like it was coated in 'cellophane' - kinda clear and colored. Whatever. Hair color nowadays is light years ahead so it's not as popular as it was.

but does your hair lack shine when it's air dried au naturelle??
that's the test i use when i think i need to whack off an inch of hair
due to damage...usually it's b/c i've been fingering through it at work when i
have a crapload of products in it.
i have a couple of styling aids that just make my hair....ick! one is
Tresemme curly mouse...it holds, but it coats the hair and it feels
dried out later in the day. I also have Rave pump hair spray mega
hold #4 - that's nasty sh*t. i have NO shine when i use that...so i
then have to spray w/ silicone.
the rave aerosol #3 is just fine though.

It definitely won't hurt your hair. But rather than put a colored cellophane, you might want to try the clear just for the shine factor. You need a hair dryer to sit under, tho. You could use your new Space Bonnet.
yeah, that's funny, mocha. I never noticed any difference whatsoever. But my hair was okay to start with - not damaged or dull, just kinda lank.
Well, I'd love to try cellophaning my real hair, if it wouldn't
adversely affect it in any way. My hair's superbleached. Does anyone
know if cellophaning over bleached hair is advisable?
When I first get the synth installed, it's (not surprisingly) quite a
bit shinier than my real hair, although it dies down considerably
afterward. I think that if I got a cellophane, it would even everything
out really well.
I'm not worried about slippage because I have pinchbraids, and they
never budge. I condition the hell out of my roots, and they never slip,
so I think a cellophane would be OK in that regard.
I always recommend extensionists not to use human hair with any sort of a coating on, as it affects the bonds. Also you should never condition your own hair prior to applying single strand fusion bonds because it can cause the bonds to slip.
At the end of the day, if the human hair is good quality then it should not need any sort of coating on to make it shine.

This may be a bit O/T, but has anyone ever tried to cellophane human
hair extensions? I wonder if that would help with manageability. :)
Yes, I have tried that in years past, and it did the same thing to extension hair as it did to my own, which is very little. I know people rave about Cellophane, but I never thought it made one bit of difference in the manageability of my hair.
It's a coating. I think it's aim is to preserve softness for a longer
period of time ... that said ... I'm not sure if it that diffrent to the
other silicone-coated hair on the market. I'm going to stock up on
supplies this Saturday ...I'll check it out and see if I can get a
sample.
