QuoteReplyTopic: pro-hair / 4 strand / monofiber?? Posted: April 26 2005 at 6:24pm
Hi chickies
Before I found this board, I was in contact with a lady that is relatively close to me, and uses the pro-hair 4 strand (and something about monofiber) system. She will do my head for approx. $550. (I wrote it all down after talking with her... but then put it aside thinking it was a No because at the time I only wanted human. Now I am much more open-minded! LOL Anyway, I just found the piece of paper with her name on it...)
Is this the same exact thing as the dome method? I could have sworn I remember her saying something about "cold fusion" too... but I could be wrong...
Thanks guys

So this is nothing like the dome method, then where they are sealing the extension hair around your hair? And how damaging is the prohair system to your own hair? Is there glue involved?
Actually, the Dome system uses a 4-way box braid. The only difference
between ProStyles' method and Dome's is that PS uses a 3-way braid and
Dome uses a 4-way. Same method, basically. And no, no glue involved. If done correctly, it doesn't damage your real hair at all.

Yeah, heat-seals of any kind (Prostyles 3-Way, Dome 4-Way) should be
perfectly safe. The system is more like pinchbraids than anything else,
really; the main difference is that pinchbraids use string as the the
"securing agent" while heat-seals melt the synthetic extension hair
into itself, forming a loop. It is not melted into your own hair and is
in no way related to Cold Fusion, which is a patented fusion technique.
Heat-seals would be a great option if you want synth hair. Boogiemama,
whose site you were checking out the other day, does heat-seals
(Prostyles method, which means it's a three-way braid).
