    Posted: May 07 2005 at 11:44am

I have been pretipping all morning. I did some with LQ, and I used some with the Proclaim from Sallys. (white) I liked the idea of pretipping leaving the weft intact before you paint the glue/latex on. It still took me awhile to do but they came out OK. I was rummaging through some things, looking for different types of glue in my house and came upon a paint roller. What I experimented was this:

I left the weft intact. I combed the hair all out. I took the nice soft paint roller and flattened the hair near the weft so that no extra hair was flying away when I was ready to glue/latex. I then took latex from Sallys (black this time) and went straight accross the top near the weft and past those little hairs. I then took the paint roller and pressed down on the latex and rolled it very gently. I then picked up the weft and turned it over and rolled that side. I would have used a flour roller from the kitchen but I didn't have one. Then I separated the hair ready to make individual tips. This was alot quicker than the tongue depresser I used earlier this morning! E.

Forget about it...

I just pretipped with the shrinkies from shrinkie.net and used the long clear colored shrinkie. I did the double over method that was in one of the archives (I believe it was Amm's method) I folder over my PH bulk hair and l slid two shrinkies over the PH. One shrinkie I heated with the Docs wand and then I left the other shrinkie hanging loosely so that when I'm ready to apply my pretipped shrinkies, the shrinkie will be in place already saving about ten seconds per tip.

I was wondering how not to lose so much bulk hair!!! It's all over the place. I'm crazy about the pretipping with the extended shrinkie! No mess! can't wait to see how it fares. The pretipped shrinkie is undetectable on the pretip! WooHoo! Thanks again everybody for all these methods. Choices are good! E.

Elvira, I believe the correct phrasing is: fuggedaboutit. But we know what you mean.

Way to go on the shrinkie pretipping! As for how to deal with bulk hair, well, it's a mess. Most folks just put an elastic really tightly on one end (or if it's PH, on the end and in the middle) and just cut the hair they need close to the elastic. That's why wefts are good - on the one hand, the folded over ends are bad for pretipping in the weft, but the weft itself keeps the hair from becoming unruly. So it's a trade off.
