hahaha AMM you make me laugh!! lol....  There is also a website called www.fitday.com that also does the same thing but its free...not sure if it has the exact stuff but it has calorie intake for almost any food and activity..you should check it out!

Scotchyroo and Syren:  I was going to order it too!!!  i feel like i have the smallest lips but i dont want to get plastic surgery...it scares me!! let me know how it works i think i might order it....

I think we should have a hairboard nutrition group support....im there!!  Im all about being in shape and "trying" to eat right... I eat right until like 8:30 at night when im craving icecream or reese's peanut butter cups :-( hehe

I cannot reveal the circumstances under which this photo was taken of me but it is perhaps the best diet aid that I was ever forced...I mean, that I ever chose to employ.

I ORDERED THAT TOO!!!! LOL

Edit: mine came in the mail today - that was FAST!
Hmmm. Interesting little gadget - beautiful red colored plastic. To be honest, tho, it looks like some kind of marital aid.

Hey, speaking of Kalika, here's a little tool I just ordered from a recommendation of hers... it's the lip pump from www.cynthiarowland.com  I can't wait to see it.

Thanks, Mocha. And I'm like you - to keep it off and to keep tight, it's ALL about exercise. At 38 yrs old, I modeled a rubber dress for photos for a store here in town - RUBBER DRESS - and that was all thanks to weight training and the treadmill. There is no substitute. That's when I met the bf (no surprise there).

But this program thingy - it's really great - it tracks not only calories, but all kinds of other nutrients and measures. It factors in your exercise. It calculates how many cals you need to eat daily to reach your goal weight by a certain date and graphs the whole thing - also modifies your cals depending on your exercise and how much weight you are losing. You can add foods to the database (which is already huge), analyze recipes, track your water intake, and keep and compare the data indefinitely, like over weeks/months/years. So far I like this thing.

Go, Scotchyroo! And like they say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, or drives you totally insane.

arghhh

so wishing I hadn't quit working as an aerobics instructor a year ago.

I've always had food issues but the exercise kept it all under control.

Scary thing is that I'm very well informed on what eat and not eat.  I just don't care enough.  maybe I should go hunt a lovely support group on the web like I have a hair support group here...

good job Rose.

and I have no idea how anyone could disagree with Jenny on you amazingly graceful handling of your entire ordeal Syren.

I just copied down the list of "8" from Kalika.  I'm going to post it on my refridgerator.

Jen, you are totally right about the gen Y'ers.  They are so much more savvy.... or maybe this is just a great group.

Syren, I went through a variety of the hell you've experienced 9 years 5 monthes and some days ago.  I am tremendously proud of how you are handling yourself.   I know this sounds really weird, but it is really a good thing to know that you got through feeling really crap.... because when you need to feel bad to do something good for yourself (work out, go to the dentist, wait and cook a good meal rather than eat crap, etc.)  you know that you can do it, and comparatively speaking it's no big deal.

    Give 'em hell.

I track all intake at ediets.com, they also make meal plans for you, you can do a combo of frozen and from scratch dinners.

I have been lapsing with it lately, probably because I know what I am eating, keeping my intake under 1250 calories a day and having little exercise Ive managed to lose atleast 6 lbs in 4 weeks.

I start a yoga class soon.

(takes a curtsy)...thank you very much! But honestly...what other way is there to be? You can lay down and die, but what good is that. All in all, I learned a lot about alot of things and it turned out okay. Plus, it helps not to be afraid, and I was never afraid, not for one minute, even before surgery.

Yes, those 20-somethings really are awesome! I agree, and I admire them all. I really admire how, at 22, Kalika just had had enough and went to a nutritionist to get a handle on her issues with food. I know people 30 yrs older than her who STILL refuse to do that and continue to complain...about everything...and have every excuse in the world why they can't lose weight or whatever. I want to thank her for sharing her experience and her findings...really cool. I think it's going to help me alot.

Doesn't surprise me. Kalika--and for that matter, the whole Gen Y crew (Rae, Leia, etc.)--are always on the pulse of everything. The benefits of growing up during the Internet age, or something they're putting in the water now that's making all the 20-somethings so savvy.....

About the software, it looks hot. Up to now, I've only seen calorie counting tools, nothing that gives you a more holistic nutritional picture.

And you, Syren, are amazing, by the way. You've handled your radiation and its challenges with such grace, honesty, and humor, you're an inspiration to us all.

This is totally OT, but some of you may find this really helpful.

My rebuilding process is multi-pronged, and Step I: Haar has been accomplished. Step II is to regain a metabolism as mine is toasted from surgery, steroids, radiation, and being sedentary, so I was perusing the Diet Days board and look what Kalika found:http://talk.hairboutique.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=30074 &PN=1
She's right - it's amazing! I thought I'd never stay interested enough to input what I ate on the computer, but now I can't WAIT to get home and do it!

And here's some other great nutritional info: http://talk.hairboutique.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=30024 &PN=1

Our little Kalika! Who knew?!
