I just bought a new brand of Biotin with a higher dosage....my face
started to break out!!! I have heard how this is a side effect, but am I to
stop taking this vitamin completely or will this pass in time?

i'm far from an expert...but drinking more water sounds like a really good idea.
how high is your biotin dosage? i have 300mcg pills...and i take one or two a day (arbitrarily...but gear towards one pil)...any higher and i woudl start wondering if the benefits would outweigh the positive...
but i felt like it may have actually IMPROVED my complexion.

I've been taking biotin for about a 2-3 months now and haven't experienced any breakouts whatsoever. But I do recommend taking each dosage with a FULL glass of water and to drink as much as you can throughout the day.

I experienced the same thing. But my problem was the Biotin (5000 mcgs) was waaayyy too high!! No matter how much water I drank. My hair didn't really grow but I started to grow a moustache and urr umm...hair in other places started growing rapidly!!
The first 2 weeks of taking the Biotin I became light headed!! Then the next 2 weeks my skin was fine until one night I was breaking out like something fierce. I'm off of it now and I only take Centrum & Flaxseed oil.

My dosage is 5000 also! I increased it because I have read in so many places that it is the hair growing vitamin. I guess that I will go back to the drawing board with these hair growing vitamins. Does anyone have any tried and true alternatives....it seems like my hair is at a standstill

I've been taking Biotin for about six months and for me it has done the opposite. It makes my skin clear and smooth, however I do have the occassional zit or two but I think that I need to find a better facial cleansing product then the one I have.
My advice would be start start low and gradually improve. I heard that there is only so much Biotin that the body can take and anything over that amount is just wasted. I'm not sure though.
I read in one forum where a young lady broke her vitamin in half and mixed it in with her smoothies in the morning.

ITA with Renee, drink more water, as someone else was saying you may want to start with a lower dosage, you can take biotin and msm together- that may help and if you do this increase your vitamin c intake. Good luck, the break outs will go away with time.

i know i started with taking 1000mcg every 3 days, then increasing to 2000 then 2500 then 4000 before getting to taking 5000mcg. i'd always been taking MSM with it so i guess that helped a little. and i also take 500mg vitamin C.
You know what, dncamup, I'm not sure. I know MSM is good for joint flexibility. But I do know that the GNC Nouishair vitamins has Biotin, MSM, & Silica and these 3 ingredients work great together.

There are different forms available. I prefer the tablets. I've purchased 2 different types of the tablet form. The 1st ones were rather LARGE and difficult to swallow (for me). The 2nd type, and the ones I use now, are in capsule form w/ the powder mixture inside. Much easier for me to swallow. I'd gag every time on the other ones!

i just got the powder. prefer it cos it has a higher dosage (3000mg), it doesnt tatse in whatever you add it to and your body absorbs it a lot faster. and i dont have to take as many pics
i think my biotin is breaking me out too. i take 1 mg a day, is this too much? on the bottle it says this is 666% of our RDA maybe i should take half a tablet a day, or i every few days
