I think that is a great idea! I live in New England, and would love to be able to help someone/get help with my shrinkies...

I think a sticky like that would be great. Something like the "Blow Your Trumpet" thing. There's a few people on here who have salons and even the fly bys probably have nice places and good services too. I say start the sticky and let the ads fall where they may.

I don't mean "no details" as in you can't ask for what you're looking for (like someone to practice on or exchange services etc...).  But rather no details like "I offer a protien based strand by strand bond which is the best available on the market utilizing the most cutting edge techniques blah blah blah".  I just thought it would be a good idea to have a forum for people to go say "hey, I'm looking for practice heads in minnesota for pinchbraids" or "Hi, can anyone recommend a place in Atlanta for shrinkies?" or "Hello, I'm in Florida and I do extendtubes if anyone's interested pm me".   They had a forum like that at Quinn's site and I thought it would be good to have here since a few people have popped in asking for things in particular areas and Quinn's board has recently had an attack.  I don't think it needs to be very complicated.  Just an idea.

Doesn't Kristen at haircandy.net have places listed on her site? That's a real good idea Eden. I'm also up for a New England hair party.

A 'no details' rule would make life difficult, though. You might be
looking specifically for an extensioneer who wants someone to
practice on, and you would have to individually PM everyone listed in
that area to find out if that's what they were after too. It would also
make for a massive amount of this useless mail clogging up people's
PM and email facilities.

Yes, people could navigate to personal websites from profiles, but
the best extensioneer in the world may not have the facilities
available to design, build, host and update their own site.

I have found that the Blow Your Own Trumpet thread on Quinn's
board works well: advertising is allowed (and is, indeed, the whole
point of the thread) but it is only open to established members, not
newbs, and show-off posts may not have a link to the BYOT post.

Oh yeah, I'm in Virginia, at the Maryland and Washington D.C. borders.  Well, that's where I live anyways.  Right now I'm in Tampa Florida on a business trip.

I see how that could get a little sticky, and advertising is definitely NOT what we need.   Maybe they could put post a forum policy.......like no prices, no details, etc......just a name, where you're located, and the type of extensions you do.  That way it doesn't even imply that you do them professionally or are charging.  It just says what you do so that someone can contact you privately.  Or they could have a policy not posting about yourself at all.  Maybe only allow threads where people can ask for referrals and things of that nature......hey, we give referrals on this forum!

I have an idea for the forum that I think would be extremely useful.  I've noticed a few threads recently from people asking if anyone knows of hair extensionists in their area.  I myself am on a business trip for a week and was searching for an extensionist in a city I know nothing about.  So why not make a forum for local networking?  Under the Hair Extensions category on this website there are two seperate forums;  "Hair Extensions" and underneath that is  "Hair Extension Faqs and Facts".  If you noticed, no one is posting under "Hair Extension Faqs and Facts".  I think that's kind of what this forum (Hair Extensions) is addressing.  So why not change the "Faqs and Facts" to a hair extension local networking forum?  You'd click on the forum and there would be subforums for every area (the states, different parts of Europe, etc..) and you could just click on your area to find other extensions people closeby.  That way extensionists can post where they are located and anyone who wants to find an extensionist can find them in the forum.  No advertising, just a simple "I'm Emily Extensionist located in Extensionland and can do microrings".   It would also be extremely helpful for those of us who are not professionals, but want to find people to practice on, or who want to exchange services.  For example, I have become pretty adept at fusion and I wouldn't minddoing fusion for someone who wanted to try it out in exchange for them doing heat seals or pinchbraids for me.  Or if someone wanted to do extensions in exchange for letting them take pictures for their portfolio....etc. etc.   Just a thought.  I know I'd definitely like to do some networking!
