This question is going to seem a little out of whack, but you girls sound like you have a lot of knowledge when it comes to this ....

Can females use rogaine to get the benefit of the 2% of monoxidil or is there a better product to incite hair growth in women? There is a spot in the back of my head (middle) that's breaking and all nappy, no relaxed ends on it and the rest of my hair is relaxed. This spot was breaking before then it started growing again and now I don't know what it is doing... So help! Rogaine - yes or no? Havent tried it yet, but Im about ready to do anything.

Monoxidil is the only proven medically proven treatment for regrowing hair- the only thing about it is if you stop taking it, the hair that you just regrew will eventually fall back out. Also, for women, it can cause hair to grow on other areas of the body such as the face and back.  So its kind of a tough situation if you stop taking it.

You can try stimulating that area with daily scalp massages to encourage blood flow and circulation to that part of the scalp.  Also, some ladies have found that certain mixtures of essential oils (rosemary, peppermint, thyme, etc and a carrier oil)  applied to the scalp have encouraged growth in sluggish areas.

Any particular essential oils that are good for this or should I just get which ever one smells better? Whats a carrier oil?

The stimulating oils most people use are peppermint, rosemary, sage, lavender, ylang ylang, cedarwood, thyme... and a few others that I can't think of right now!  A carrier oil is an oil that you dilute your essential oil in.  You can't use EO's straight on the scalp or skin- they are very concentrated and potent and will "burn" or irritate your skin if you don't use a carrier oil.  Most carrier oils are oils like jojoba, sweet almond oil, sesame, grapeseed oil . . . etc.  Most recipes require 2-3 drops of an essential oil  to about every 2tbsp of a carrier oil.

I like to add them to my shampoo, leave in conditioner, and moisturizers for a nice tingle effect.  I get mine from: www.fromnaturewithlove.com

Also you can check out this site for descriptions of alot of common EO's:  http://www.aromaweb.com/essentialoils/default.asp

The main ones I've heard people use are rosemary oil, peppermint oil, sage and thyme- and these are the "growth/scalp stimulating" ones.

My hair has hovered around the August length in my signature for as long as I can remember.  It never grew past that length- ever.  I'll pm you my album password.  I started at the end of last June trying to grow my hair out- so I am coming up on a year in a couple of weeks.  My current length is the longest my hair has ever been.  Hopefully it won't stop here!
