If think if you are getting cornrows it should be enough- I've seen people get it done at that length.  The edges will be a little harder of course but I think an experienced braider will be able to "catch" those shorter hairs.

ITA with sistaslick- you could get cornrows, twists or bantu knots done with your current length. Keep us updated, k. And best of luck to you.
