Hi

Im chinese and i have really thick, coarse, frizzy hair.  It is NEVER straight, even if I use a straigtening iron.  After I use a straightening iron, it becomes wavy and it poofs up.

I tried getting it chemically straightened (2 times) and it is really shiny and straight when I got home from the salon, but after the first wash, it becomes wavy and dull again.

Now, I just let it air dry, and for some reason, it dries realllly curly and frizzy from the midsection to the ends.  I don't know why it does that, it looks like I let it dry while I had my hair in a pony tail.

Anyone can give me some tips to ''fix'' my hair?

if it helps, I only use shampoo once a week, and I condition it everytime I shower.  Afterwards, I'd spray on some leave-in conditioner.

Thx in advance :)

Shampooing only once a week.. that's GREAT!!!

If there's a texture difference between midsection and ends, then I think it's damage. The hair that is closer to your head is, of course, newer than your ends.

Maybe.... you can switch to the C-COW-C washing method and stop straightening or chemical processing? <dodges rotten vegetables>

If I stop using a straightening iron, I will always have to have my hair up in a ponytail, it doesn't even look like a ponytail, looks more like a cat's tail when its scared (you know, all spikey)

I wanna shave my head bald T_T

hmm maybe you should wait 2 days after chemical straightning before you wash your hair.

What type of straightening nsystem did you use.  This seems fishy, how the hell could it not even work after chemically straightening??  Maybe you should try another system and another salon.  How much did you pay for chem straightening?

i tried two different salons...

first one: $100, they used a liquid solution.  It looked very straight,  until I washed my hair after two days.  I went back and they tried to do it again, but the same thing happened after i washed my hair.

second one: $120, they used a thick cream.  This time, my hair was shiny and straight, and it felt really nice.  But after I washed my hair, it wasn't as straight, but it was still manageable.  I went back to the salon and they did it again.  But after i washed it after two days, same thing happened, but my hair was manageable for a month (manageable as in it only takes me 10 minutes with the straightening iron and is able to let my hair down for the day)

its been a 1.5 years since I chemically straightened it, and my hair is not behaving at all.  A straightening iron makes my hair straight for...hmmm..I'd say 10 minutes =P

try to have your hair rebonded

its far more expensive but it does the job better than those regular chemical straightner.

for now though cut your hair the shortest you can and wait till healthy hair grows. for now just use heat activating straighning cream made for hair iron to protect hair before ironing
