Welcome Shell!!!

I originally started fresh two years from a bob cut above my ears. I've had some wear and tear over the first year, but got back on track and joined this site. Now I'm about 3 inches past shoulder length. I'm sure you'll do fine and everyone here has great advice!!

Welcome shell and good luck....well its hard to determine your hair type if you are still relaxed because the relax hair can weight your newgrowth down... unless u have seen your natural texture and remember it then you can explain it and we can try to help you.

Hello everyone. Count me in on the challenge.  I often read everyones Q&A and I would like to encourage everyone to keep up the great work. I recently got a hair cut (which I only went in for a trim) and ended up going from a few inches past my shoulders to a chin length even Bob (so I feel Like I'm starting over). I really don't have a specific hair care routine. I'm just experimenting to find what works best. I have relaxed hair and right now I'm trying

Aphogee Intensive Keratin Reconstrucor, Surge +14 ( not as often anymore) and Surge Power Wash Shampoo, ORS Carrot oil and Olive oil cream, Mizani Thermastrength cream and Moisturefuse cond. Big tooth comb, a satin scarf and a curling iron that I'm trying to eliminate.

I seem to like everything I use for the moment with the exception of the +14, it does strange things to my hair.  I don't know what type hair I have. How do you find that out? Someone please let me know.

I have started my journal and I'm going to start taking some  pic's soon. My ideal length is to my bra strap. I have about 7in to grow to acheive that.

Good luck everyone!

Thanks! I usually put carrot creme and WGHO in my hair while it dries because it feels like hay if I don't.

I put a leave in conditioner on it (infusium) and I might put some Dudley's Inner Growth Creme on it. I don't like to put alot of product on before I use the maxiglide because it causes build up on the iron.  The Essential Oil doesn't do that though.

Maybeline,

I've been busy too! My computer is on the fritz too so don't worry about it. I've been thinking about which flat iron to invest in because I'm not sure. And also, I need a really fantastic heat protectant.

When you let your hair airdry, what type of moisturizer do you use??

Honeydoo,

Sorry girly, I have been busy the last few days. When I straighten my hair I use the maxiglide with steamburst.  I just let my hair air dry almost all the way through.  I put a little Dudley Inner Brilliance Essential Oil on each section before I straighten. It stays straight till I wash it again.  You can see the before and after pics on my link below. Hope this helps!

Well it was a fun gathering just a few of us. We swaped products and we talked about any and everything while at the restaraunt. I got some free samples I got some Physique hydrating shampoo and conditioner which I really liked and I have already used up. I got some affirm stuff and Kera Care samples. These Samples are just too small...when I wore my hair out yesterday I was looking at each sample pack like my hair will just laugh at this. A Dime size amount is worth 1/4 of an area of my hair. But anywho I really enjoyed it...pm for the link to the gathering pics cause it's not in my album and i'm not sure they want it on a public site.

Hey maybeline, what do you use to straighten your hair? It looks great!

I've been putting my hair in bantu knots at night and taking them down in the morning so its curly and wavy. I find it hard to stick with one style, but the good thing is I don't use heat or alot of products switch it.

Let me know how it works for you!  I am going to NY this weekend so I will pick some curly pudding up then.  I want the buttercreme too but it is too expensive for me.  I will check the ingredients to see what it is made of, maybe I can mix up something similar.  I will let you know how it works for me.  My 3c hair has not been relaxed in 7yrs!

This is what it looks like when it is dry and unstraightened

I might try that b/c last weekend I washed my hair and it was a big thick tangled mess. When it's wet is soft and wavy but it dries up like a puffy tangled afro. I have 3b/c hair. I was about to purchase a relaxer, but I think I'd liek to try this product first.

I know what you mean I'm type 4a so it's even worse for me. But what work for me is some leave in conditioner and a bit of gel, my shea butter also helps as well. You don't need a relaxer that won't help with the frizz. Find a good smoothing anit frizz product (like missjessies) and you should be fine.
