Hello Longhairdreams et all,

I noticed in your signature that you were due for

a new baby in approximately 83 days. This may be

the contributor to your desire for those styling tools.

Because none of us 'stay' pregnant, it is hard to give you

advice not to try various things to make ourselves feel better

during pregnancy. When I had my first son, I fought the urges

to cut, but when he was just a toddler, I gave in to a perm and

bangs.  Alas, it does grow out.

Don't be too hard on yourself if you do decide to try something

different, as each time you do, you may acquire a new way of

thinking on the road to long hair.

After having made what became a 'mistake' for my own hair

to have bangs several times, I no longer am tempted to have

them. Perms fail, and so I don't have to worry about those, but

those waist length cuts are so tempting. So you see, the desire

to try something new may be emphasized during pregnancy, but

for some of us, the 'urge' is always with us, popping it's head

up. You mentioned not using heat tools, but keep in mind when

used in moderation, they are quite alright. Even I have been known

to give the curling iron a whirl every now and then, though unless

they come up with one the length of a yardstick, it doesn't do

much good.  

I'm going through an urge myself right now, and the only thing that

keeps me from going over the deep end is a bit of shopping

at the Boutique. I also clear out my hair toys drawers and find

old or otherwise abandoned toys I seldom wear. Once you start

playing with your hair, you'll find so many options other than

cutting. Color would not be a bad thing, either, provided it was

applied properly and not in haste, such as going from raven black

to platinum blonde. A former co-worker of mine was seen last

week with Marilyn Monroe hair, when the previous week she had

it frosted and fried. Before that, it was a dark brown. Oh, what

a sight it was. Fried, crispy, flyaway.

Well, I've had entirely too much coffee now and can't stop

jabbering, but please know that it's alright to have feelings for

change. We'll try to comfort you through them, and perhaps

we can convince you to focus on the little one coming. After

the bouncing package arrives, you can whip that hair into a

beautiful braid or bun with a new hair toy. Though this is

a celebration of a birth, don't forget to care and treat Mom, too!
