Ok for all of you who currently have red or have worn your extensions red.I saw that most places dont carry much selection in reds.Do most of you buy a light color and then put your shade of red over? I'm pretty sure I'm going back to red since going back blonde would mean having straw strands with my dark hair. Why is it so hard to find hair in red.Is red terribly uncommon?
I do exactly that... I get lighter shades,14-15-16 etc. (depending on the manufacturer cause they all vary) I always color twice. Once to fill. The next will step will richen the color. I'm sure you know to test strand to get an accurate color and processing time!
If youre using wefts for clip ins...you're able to really mix your shades for a custom blend.

yeah thats what i figured.I usually color my extensions anyways. They never seem to be quite right.I actually probably going to do bonded wefts or seamless this time around. But your right wefts are good for a custom blend.I always drove myself batty when i had crown foil highlights and lowlights trying to match each strand to my hair.. I am actually excited about going red.As much As I love blonde I dont want my hair to feel dry and scratchy.Since I have been taking care of my hair it has felt wonderful.

But for human, I would find the reddest "natural" color I could find, then find a specialty "wild red" to mix in with it. then if you want lighter or darker you can mix in some lighter or darker brown.

i used to buy plat. blonde and use my red dye. works like a charm but
can be expensive sometimes. if so, then i used the lightest color in
the "dark color" categories and dyed it my color, sometimes with a
color toner.

heh, as long as Ive been playing with hair, I have never coloured my extensions. If it was off I would dye my real hair to match. haha. I guess I was just afraid of the hair giving out because its usually processed to an inch of its life to begin with.
I'm working on getting the Indian hair I got from FinaFina to auburn right now. I'll post pics when I'm done. Since I had to bleach it anyway to get it light enough and wanted to go easy on it afterward, I'm using body art ( eg pure ) henna. No metallic dyes or anything which usually gives henna it's bad rep for causeing weird colours over bleach. The strand tests turned out beautiful and match my own hair well. ( I won't use henna on my own hair, as it's rather permenant, and I'm quite fickle )

thanks everyone for your helpful replies.I feel so bad for even posting it.I kept trying to convince myself how much I didnt really want to be blonde.I was almost convinced when my husband was like " you know you'll like it for a week and go blonde anyways." I had chickened out so many times cause I read so many stories of hair falling out and chemical burns and the dreaded hot roots. But I have had a shaved head this is no big deal.So I DID IT. Like a dummy though I didnt buy anything to tone with.Right now its a brassy light yellow, lol. But I'm off to sally's to go get protein filler and a good demi.Sally's doesnt open til 12:00.I seriously have no patience.Oh yeah my ends are a little dry but my hair's condition is not bad at all.

Kalika, SAS is still around, just not as much as she used to be. I think some of her other projects keep her VERY busy. She never actually sold any hair. She found a great indian supplier and considering selling hair. But then some idiot came here and made a bunch of foolish accusations and I think she just decided to stay away from the whole thing. Too bad really, cause the hair she found is gorgeous.
