QuoteReplyTopic: Help, New Member with Hair Loss Posted: July 10 2005 at 9:47pm
Hi, I'm a new member and I found this message board through the Yahoo Search Engine. Okay, here's my problem:
About a month ago, I decided to put Two-Strand Twists in my hair to let it rest and grow, instead it backfired . Now one side of my hair has thinned, and the top of my hair has also thinned so much, that I cannot put it into any style. It's heart breaking to me, because I've always had problems with my hair since I was in elementary school, and now i'm a sophomore in college and I can't even keep a full head of hair for more than a year. I worked so hard to grow my hair back, and now its back to square one .
I plan on getting my hair done in a sewn-in weave until it grows back.. Is that a good idea, because I don't want to be more bald than I already am.
If anyone had any advice that could re-grow my hair, I would greatly appreciate it.
I don't know how safe it is to get your hair braided up, but if you do decide to get a sew in, remember to keep the braids moisturized and to wash and condition your hair once a week. Pay close attention to your scalp and braids. Also, you can try this product called lenzi's request, but you have to get it online and either pay with paypal or call in the order and send in a money order. The website is http://www.sunriseproductsonline.com. It's on the left column at the bottom. It's suppose to be good for growing hair, I haven't gotten mine yet, but I will post results when I get them. I hope this helps.

I don't know about getting a sew-in if your hair is already damaged. I don't know what your length is, but I'd suggest doing loose buns or ponytails instead. If you decide to get a sew-in make sure your hair is not braided too tight as to cause more stress/pulling on your already thinning spots. Also you want to make sure not to keep it in for a prolonged period of time and keeping your hair moisturized is a must! A lot of women are getting good results also w/ the Shapley's MTG for growth(you can do a search for more info). I read about the Lenzi's request on a different site also and feedback was pretty good. I'm sure the other ladies will have plenty of other helpful suggestions/info for you.
Welcome & good luck

Thanx Millah and BrownEyez, A friend told me to try a product from Profective, that I bought last night, and I will look into these other products that you've showed me.
I'd rather go without braiding my hair again, but I really don't want to walk around with my scalp showing, so I was looking into the sew-in, or just buying head scarves, so that I wont have to be embarrassed. If anybody has any other ideas on hairstyles, I welcome them.
Thanx...

I agree with cmesweet...You could try a wig or a half wig...depending on where the hair is showing. I'm not sure about how safe it is to get your hair braided up either. Why did the two-strand twists break your hair off? Were they too tight?
