"Fractured hairs" are broken hairs. A white dot forms, the hair breaks, and then a split forms on the remaining broken end. I have observed this process many times while removing my own split ends. A split forming higher up the shaft of the hair is not a result of any sort of breakage, but of a scale beginning to peel up and continuing until it is visible. I get some of these, too. Yesterday I removed several ends that had half a dozen such splits along the shaft over a three inch length, but with no breakage site.
Just looking for a few good hair slaves - is that too much to ask?

split ends aren't fractured hairs, fractured hair occurs above the
ends, part of the hair is split from the hair strand [the hair
that's split from the strand may fall out and the hair is thinner] and
it's of an
unequal length.Fractured hairs are caused by the same things that cause
split ends.Fractured hairs have no white dots.[Acquired] proximal
trichorrhexis nodosa causes hair fractures near the scalp. Please press
search and read my post perms cause proximal trichorrhexis nodosa.
