I will... i hope it doesn't turn out green. The ends of my hair have a
greensih tinge to them, but if I can get the red out of my roots I will
be pleased.

It should show and I don't think it will go green. If it does however
turn green just put a blonde toner on that has golden tone. This won't
damage your hair either.
But hey, hair reacts different all the time, this worked for me when I
had this problem. I can't guarante that this will work for you.
But what I think should happen is that it evens out all your hair, makes the orange parts disapear.
Try a stand test fist, so you'll know exectly whats going to happen.
Try on the lighter parts as well as the orange and dark so you can
compare the results.

Okay, so pick a color shades lighter than what I want.
So what if I go in get some kind ash, get it lighter than I want, put
it in my hair as it is right now, what do you suppose will happen?
Will it show up? or turn my hair green? I'm not going to bleach it.

Yes, because hair that has been bleached will literary soak up any
color you put on it. This is why so many of us have gotten a darker
color than we thought we would be getting. If you chose a color that is
2 shades lighter you will avoid this and you will notice that the color
on your hair will have bacome darker than the color on the box.

I had bleached hair and decided to go back to my normal color which is
medium ash, my hair went green! But as they say, if you don't have
white or pale yellow color the ash will take the orange and red away.
Be sure to pick a color 2 volumes lighter than the one you actually
want, ash turns out darker than expected + you should always do this to
avoid getting to dark hair. *Whish I knew that one before I colored
mine*
So I should pick a shade LIGHTER than my picked color?
Hmmm... argh. I am just so frustrated!

I just can't figure it out, I can't even figure out what color I HAVE! :P
You can see where my roots are. Now my roots have been bleached and
have been colored lots, but my ends have been bleached PROFESSIONALLY
and usually hold a greenish ting to them and always turn out darker or
lighter than my 'roots'. Depending on what color of blonde I decide on
using. The Darker parts are the processed, the ligher my roots... it's
more orange beacuse of my damn bathroom lighting...it's the only place
I can get a clear image... hmm figures!
This is what color it is... when I'm not having a party in my
bathroom...What kind of Over the Counter Blonde shades have VIOLET in
them?
P.S
My eyelashes are real, I don't wear fake ones... people always assume I do. Anywho.... back to my hair color. I need helppy!

Hmmm... I can't get Wella stuff, so there is no use even suggesting anything. Everything I have done and will do is OTC.
So what kind of blondes have a violet base? Out of the Box Blondes that
is... My hair is already sorta greeny/blonde color at the ends, I sure
wish I could show you guys. I'm going to snap some pics of just the
hair and see if I can get the color.
Bleaching causes the already processed parts to go REALLY light, almost
white (and perhaps break off. :D) but my processed roots turn orange...
it's odd.
I've tried so much! I just can't get satisfied. I tried Golden Blonde,
that's what I put after I bleached out my roots, my hair felt orange to
me, then I put in the dark stuff. It's washing out and it's going back
to the orginal base color I always seem to end up working with no
matter what color I dye it. I've even dyed my hair Cappicino
(darkbrown) and it turned back to a dark blonde after a few
months. :D
Hmmm......

Hmm bleaching will def. make it lighter tho then there's the fear that it might turn green w/ ash over bleached hair. I guess it depends on how light the bleach takes u. In that case, if it turns out more yellowy, then ur better of using a violet based blonde. That one shade nordic blonde by wella color charm has a violet makes as i recall.

I think I'll try it. What if I bleach it out first then put in an ash blonde, do you think that would be safe?
The root area is so hard to dye and I can't do a strand test too well
cause the ends of my hair will bleached out beautifully but the natural
will not. Hmmmm, oh the ideas! What kind of brand would you suggest and
in what ash color? I want somethign light. :)

Ash is a good component in coutnering orange tones since ahs can also mean green and as we know green cancels out orange. I guess the only way to know if it'll work out is the good ol' method of strand testing

Isn't ash colors sort of GREENY? I was told not to use ASH from the box.
I used COOL BLONDEl once on my BLEACHED blonde hair and it turned it Grey.
I think I just will go to a salon to get it lifted a little. I need a
bloody hair cut anyways! I just can't stand going... they always make
you feel like an idiot. Well the ones here locally do.
What if I bleached, left it and then used an ASH blonde? Do blonde
colors in boxes have any TONING properties? As I can not just get TONER
here.

Veronica, my hair is about a level 2 dark brown naturally. When I
used it, I had 30 volume for one of the red shades of L'Oreal Hi-Color
and 40 vol for blonde. But like I said, it didn't do a thing to
previously processed (including bleached) hair...just to the virgin
hair. Mostly, I think it's easier to just bleach and tone to get
light hair that's not really reddish. The Hi-Color red that I
used turned out nicely, though.

I tried the highlift myself after
bleaching(strand tests only). It didnt lift at all.I have 2 bottles left
in natural blonde.I thought it would work better on my prebleached
hair.But I had no such luck.Maybe
you will have better results. But My strands didnt do anything.I even
wrapped them in foil and left it on for an hour!I also used the
highlift for brunnettes that meant to lighten to blonde supposedly if
that helps.
I haven't tried the hi-lift brown. I keep hearing that it doesnt' work and I dont' want to waste the cash.
I bought a seashell color but I am still getting darker reddy colors in
the blonde. What color of blonde would I use if I don't want all those
dumb dark red tones? I can't seem to get it really blonde. Thank
god my hair is still soft and silky cause I keep doing bad things to it.
Even bleaching isn't helping with the red, it keeps coming up red or
orange. I can't get SALLY things because first we don't have one and
2nd you have to be a 'hairdresser' to purchase anything at our beauty
stores.
Oh well the dark blonde works. :)

I did try to skimp on the developer.I used 20 volume. But That was plenty with bleach to lift my hair to pale yellow. So i thought it could work with the hicolor.I used it on #5 hair.Which is real stupid now that I think of it.even on virgin hair it wouldnt have lifted very much.I just expected something(even with 20 volume).I didnt change at all.Not even reddy orangey?

leia is ur hair nat. black? Mine is and i tried gold shimmer and red fire on to strands of virgin hair, its so weird cuz i used the 30 vol. but all i got was a faint tint :/ hmmm...and the ironic part is that whatever color i use w/ 30 vol. in my hair, it lifts to the target color!
I think its one of those products that works on some but not on others...

Hmm...I got L'Oreal Hi-Color to work on virgin hair, just not anything
previously colored. Sorry to change the direction of a thread,
but Longhair, what color did you get and what volume developer (also,
what's your starting color)?
