QuoteReplyTopic: Haircut Ideas Posted: July 18 2005 at 7:16pm
Since my post in the teen forum came up with nothing and I'm still
wavery on any ideas, I'm reposting the following. (I hope that's ok,
I've seen other people crosspost here.)
I need some general ideas for
somebody with a round head shape and normal thickness hair. It's
mostly straight, but it can get curly or wavy towards the ends when
it's shorter or layered; otherwise, it just frizzes. Currently it's
shoulder length and slightly shorter at the front, but it's basically
one length all the way through: no layers.
I *don't* want
anything too short, that's too high maintainence or inconvenient. I'd
rather not have a hairstyle that shows off my ears, since they stick
out and add to the roundness of my face, but I'm having throuble
finding hairstyle ideas in any websites.
I'm thinking of getting some layers and some wispy bangs but it's a
vague idea and I'd like to have a photo with me when I go to the salon,
especially because I've never been at one.
Have you looked through the gallery here at HB? If you go to the links up top just click on hairstyles.
You can also try going to a store like Walmart and looking in their
magazine section by the books. Not the ones by the registers. In the
magazine section you should see a few magazines such as Sophisticates
Hairstyleguide or they might say something about short cuts or hairdo
ideas. They are full of different hairstyles. Even if the cut is too
short in the picture you can always ask for a longer version. You might
like the layers in one picture but not the length. Or maybe you like
the bangs but not the cut.
It´s a good idea to find a photo of something that you like, it can be pretty tricky to get a stylist to understand exactly what you mean.
My little sister baffled us all when she was eight: she took a photo of Madonna´s latest hairstyle (outrageous in our little town in the 80´s!) and said "this is exactly what I want". And she got it. She was the first girl in our family to have haircolor and use styling products!
Sorry I don´t have any more substantial ideas, but you do seem to have all options open for you. Be creative!

Those magazines are wonderful.I own enough to give to everyone I know. They have hairstyles for every face shape and skin tone.I like the celebrity hair magazines the best cause they feature a wide variety of cuts and colors.Plus If you go to a competent hairdresser you could get a really cute cut just as good as your celeb of choice.I am getting my hair cut soon and have taken inspiration from mandy moore's short dark cut she had a for awhile.Good luck

Is that you in your avatar photo? If so... your long hair becomes
you. I think it looks great, personally (I wouldn't change a
thing). Just my little old humble opinion...

yes that is me,but I'm sad to say most of that hair isnt really mine.Just very nice clip in extensions. My hair is about shoulder length. I prefer longer hair myself but my hair's condition calls for a shorter cut.

I'd keep it growing LHD. You really look great with the long hair, even if they are extensions. I'm not trying to influence you in any way, but from reading your earlier posts, I see that you would really like to have long hair. If you need to cut a little for the health of your hair, fine--but (again, remembering your earflier posts), I feel you might be sorry if you have a chop just because you want to dye your hair, or try something new.
Maybe you should just wait to have that baby and see how you feel later? Be sure not to fall a victim to the "chop it all off" pregnancy syndrome.

thanks for your concern, but believe me this cut is for the best.I dyed my hair medium blonde, when my natural color is quite dark.It worked but I am very picky about my hair looks.I cant stand the split ends.I'm not going to get a buzzcut or anything.Just an updated bob.My hair will still be long enough to wear my extensions too.Believe me I have seen the pics on the celeb board of britney spears and dont want to end up with the dreaded mom cut..Although I think people expect it.People gave me alot of trouble after I had my first child when I dyed my hair pink,And even more when I shaved my head and wore wigs.I have no plans of looking like what people expect. But I appreciate your honesty.
