Thank you JF. I hope she stays on the growing it out.

Yep. She seems to have kept it pretty short since getting shaved for that movie: when she wants diversity she just adds extensions.
She hasn't "kept it short", she's still been growing it. Go back and look at the beginning of the summer (about 4 months ago) when she got the extensions to start promoting "The Constant Gardener". It was about 2 inches shorter than it is in these pics...which is how much it would have grown. Other than some minor shaping trims, I'm sure she hasn't cut it since it started growing out from the shave.

3 pm is simultaneously too late and too early to start anything.

Rachel looks best long, layered and curly. I think she can pull of shorter hairdos, but the styles in the pictures are simply too short and severe. Rachel is a person that 'loosely tousled' should apply.

I watched her on "Letterman" last night and her hair just didn't do anything for her. It looks like it's about a half inch to an inch long and there's just no style there. It looks shorter than Winona Ryder or Alyssa Milano had it when they had theirs short, so maybe when it grows out another inch it will look good. Or maybe theirs was that short and Rachel just doesn't pull it off. I'm guessing her hair wasn't styled for "The Fountain." It might have been butchered to provide a futuristic non-salon look.
Pulling off hair this short isn't easy. Few women can. When she had it about 4-5 inches long a few years ago, it looked good.
She mentioned she was still in Montreal filming, so this cut must be what was called a "buzz." To most people, a cut this short is a buzz cut.
