UPDATE: I started using regular Palmer's cocoa butter lotion for skin on my hair and the result was fabulous! At first I was skeptical because it's supposed 2 be for my skin and what's gonna happen if I use it on my hair? Will it fall out? Will the color change? But when I smoothed it on, my new growth was so soft and smooth and my ends felt like silk! I was having a hard time finding a moisterizer but I think this is the one! I follow my regular regimen and only use the WGO after I wash on Fridays and the cocoa butter on a regular/daily basis. So far, so good

Hi everyone! I haven't been on in a little bit because of my art show and although it is the middle of the month I have to update. I went ahead and relaxed with Vitale last Thursday. It came out great and I was glad to see I made my 1st hair goal which was halfway to brastrap!! After I neutralized, I applied ORS Hair Mayo for 10 minutes followed by porosity control. I have not put heat in my hair for the last 2 weeks too. Since last Thursday, I've washed my hair 3 times with Aubrey Organics. My hair is REALLY loving AUBREY. It has so much slip and moisture. It's all natural so I even leave alittle in my hair to go. I've been using tea tree oil on my scalp to help sooth it after the relax job. It's past my collar bone, but I've been just putting it into two braids to dry and letting it go curly all day. It stays moist and I've gotten lots of compliments. So far so good!

Hi Renee! I'm using the cocoa butter in the bottle. It's the lotion, not the hair product. I know it sounds weird, but so far it's really working. I saw that Palmer's has its own hair products, so I might look into that as well. But the lotion seems to have the same ingredients/vitamins as the hair product. I use it on dry hair, especially on my scalp.

Honeydoo - I'm happy 4 the progress u made! Hope the art show is going well!

I like the ApHogee treatment system and use it about every 6wks. Renee is right, it's doesn't smell great , but it's strengthen my hair and caused less shedding and breaking. I also like the Pro-Vitamin Leave In conditioner and Keratin Green tea restr. When you use the treament for damaged hair, be sure to follow  the bottle directions and not agitate the hair while this stuff is on there (will cause serious breakage if you do) and follow up w/ the Balancing Moisturizer to restore the moisture balance in the hair.

Update: I completely fell off the bandwagon of this challenge! I changed my mind about relaxing in May, BC'd again, and am now back to working on growing out my natural hair. I am currently working on putting together a care regimen using a minimum of products. I am a total PJ, and I need to focus on overcoming my addiction.   So, I am looking to use up the products that are currently clogging up my bathroom, and introduce tried-and-true products that will get my hair growing. I could really use some help from you veterans out there: what's the "good stuff"?   I'm planning to try Shapley's Original MTG; I love Salerm21 and Star Lacio Lacio; Surge Plus 14 has shown me some growth, too. I am thinking of using ORS Uplifting Shampoo and Hair Mayo, and maybe getting back on Salerm Wheat Germ Oil Hair Mask. Any suggestions...?

Here is a product in msjoker's fotki that sounds good Kerasoft Essential Oils (Primrose). I bought this product from naturallycurly.com but I haven't tried it yet called Long Lovely Locks Coco Light ultra light hair moisturizing dew. I think I'll use it when I just want some light moisture and not heavy oil.

Hey Honeydoo and Everyone....

I want to join the Grow Out Challenge also!!  I know I'm a little late (it's already July and you guys started several months ago....better late than never .

I think that I have type 4c hair.  I wear it natural expect for when I press it out for special occasions.  When pressed, my hair is 17 1/2 inches in length.  One of my goals is for all of my hair to be one length. It's shorter is certain spots.

My regimen will include shampooing and conditioning twice a week, lightly massaging my scalp (every other day for 5 minutes) to improve circulation and wearing a protective hairstyle....probably a bun (thanks to Sistaslick's bun recipe !! )  Also, I am going to try the Hairtopia Hair Vitamins....for 60 days......I'm very curious to see whether or not they help.  Also, I'll be drinking lots of water........eating plenty of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, chicken breast and fish.....and walking for good circulation.

I'll report back as time goes on to share my results.

Peace,

~qwick

My mom relaxed my new growth on Friday with Phytorelaxer as usual. It came out the best this time and my hair has been swingy and bouncy and nice. I have a swingy ponytail for the first time. 21". I guess my hair isn't growing. It's weird because my hair looks so much longer but almost two months ago my hair was 20-1/2" and now it's only 1/2" longer. I had 2-1/2" of new growth when I relaxed my hair. I need to do something to get my hair growing again.

update: I think i got rid of as much split ends as possible by dusting once a week...now am focusing on moisturizing my ends. This is especially important as I approach waistelength. Keeping my ends in good condition at that point has been my major challenge. anyways I do see progress with 1/2inch of growth that is healthy and thick.
