Well, I cut all my hair off really low and it looks kinda cute....LOL. I decided to do that so, I can wash my hair and treat my scalp everyday. Also, to put the medicated given to me by the Doctor. It's all good so far and I am not depressed at all now. Thanks Again and I will keep you ladies posted on the progress.....
My hair is coming out from the roots. A few months ago I got the twist w/synthetic hair. Well, come to find out I was allergic to the synthetic hair. My whole scalp became irrititated. I am now on antibiotic and I have a solution that I am putting on my scalp. I also, am taking Vitamins..But, I am depressed everytime I think about my hair coming out. It comes out so much when I wash it! Will my hair grow back? Should I just let it take it course or should I just cut it all off? Please I needs some advise.... PS. I have shoulder length hair, thick and now it is thinning out!!!! Help
I know what you are going through, because I am currently recovering from a botch weave job with bonding glue. For me, I started using the Doo Grow products (medicated shampoo, conditioners, and root simulator every week. I got creatative with scraves and wore a wig to work and church). My hair is growning back nicely. And now that KBaby from another post hipped me to the Nixion products, I am switching to that. Don't feel bad it happens to everybody. I don't think you need to cut your hair, but do follow the doctors advice to stop the scalp irritations. Keep us posted on your progress.

You said you got the kinky twist a few months a go and had a allergic reaction and it's still coming out. I would think by now it wouldn't be. Have you tried any strengthening/protein/deep conditioners? I'm sorry you had this experience and hope everything gets better. I, however, don't think you should cut your hair off(I hate when a beautician act like that's the only choice you have when you've got bad breakage). I think you should let this take it's course and see what your hair looks like then until then keep nuturing your hair back to it's health.

Once again thanks for the kind words and support. I have seen a dermatologist but, I am going to get a second opinion from a Black dermatolgoist next Tuesday. My hair is still coming out but my scalp looks much better. Also, I will send a before and after picture..... Anyway, thanks again...
I am sorry to hear about your hair. But, I do agree that a doctor may be the best person for you. We can give advice on how to care for your hair after your allergic reaction has healed. However, having such an episode brings it into the realm of a medical issue. I would see a dermatologist about your allergy and go from there. Make sure not to neglect the hair you have in the process but take care of your scalp with the help of a professional. I know a problem like this can really take a hit at your emotions, but hang in there. The good thing is you know what possibly caused it and you can go from there. Remaining happy instead of stressed will do wonders for you too. Our state of mind has a way of depleting or healing ourselves. Your hair will grow back, but remain diligent and active in other activities you love. Before you know it, you'll have a head of beautiful thick hair!!
I agree with the last two replies. It's important to see your doctor to see what you can do to reverse the effects of the allergic reaction. You may need to take supplements to rebalance your system. It's important to treat your hair very gently. I would NOT cut it all off, but I would treat my hair very gingerly to preserve as much of it right now as possible until it starts to grow back. If it comes out a lot when you wash it, don't wash it so much. If it comes out a lot when you brush it, refrain from brushing it. Use a wide tooth comb, if you comb it. It's important not to obsess about it, but to treat any underlying systemic imbalance that might have occurred as a result of your exposure to the synthetic material. Don't worry, your hair WILL grow back. Remember, they say "a watched pot never boils", so dont' over focus on the hair loss, but do deal with any underlying health issues.

Ginoulove- have you seen a doctor about this problem? I rather you ask a doctor about what is the best thing for you to do. We can assist you with the condition of your hair but as you mentioned previously, "it's coming out from the roots" and you recently had a bad reaction to synthetic hair... you should first go back to the doctor. Ask your doctor if your hair follicles are still active in those particular areas. We are here to support and assist you. Since we do not have the information of your scalp or can not diagnosie it, please see your doctor/dermatologists.

oh no....I am not going to cut it all off. I am just going to keep taking my vitamins and washing my hair with tea tree shampoo & conditioner. I also have been putting tea tree oil on my scalp. I brought 2 cute wigs to wear so, I don't have to worry about what to do with my hair. Thanks for the words of encouragement!!!!!

This thread tends to lean towards cutting it all off, and I must say that I disagree. I leave it up to you and I don't want to pressure you either way, but I hope you will give it much thought before you make any hasty decisions. Contrary to popular belief, hair is very resilient and can and will repair itself, especially when there is trauma to the scalp (i.e. your allergies to synthetic hair). Be patient, remain prayerful, don't worry, dont stress and please dont be depressed because it WILL grow back. I know its easier said than done but worrying will only make it worse, and again I PROMISE that your hair will repair itself. Take it from someone whos had plugs of her hair burned out several times and in several spots, bald spots from hair being pulled out of her scalp, and such a severe case of dandruff that prevented her hair from growing. Just continue your use of topical creme, vitamins, and be extra gentle with your hair- scalp massages work wonders as well. The thinning spots will grow back faster than you think
To whom much is given, much is expected.

it's gonna be okinstead of letting your hair fall out,you should just cut it all off, therefore you wont have no hair to lose and you start over growing your hair back.Because now you've learned from your mistakes.and try to do the best you can do to grow it by eating right, drinking LOTS of water, keeping ends clipped, hair moisturized. If I was you i'll cut it all off,and by a couple wigs and wear those until,my ahir is long enough to braid, then i'll get braids with human hair or your own hair.It will grow back QUICK,HEALTHY,and LONG.Keep your hopes up high

My hair is all one length but, it is coming out from the roots. So, if I cut it all off I will be completely bald after all my hair falls out... You just don't know how depressing this is.. I was told to let it take its course and then it will grow back but, taking its course is getting me down. I just wish it would just stop but my hair is just thinning out... But, thanks for the advise

i really sorry what happenedsee...i will say, well in my opinion,i probably would cut it off to have a good start, you know?,to start over with growing my hair.Or i would say depending on how bad your hair is,like if it's all uneven,i will cut my hair the length of the shortest part on my head.

If you go really short you won't have bald spots. Hey you are chatting with someone that has taken clippers to long hair went boyish short and natural and loved it. Now I want my hair long so I am in a different phase but listen. Going natural and starting from the begining with a short cut is so liberating. It's such a great feeling to wake up in the morning and not worry about your hair. Hop in the shower and let the water just go. I would consider chopping it all off. Yes you will get some negative reactions but so what! I just told people that I liked it and it looked good to me and kept steppin'

Hi I'm so sorry to hear about what happen to you. I am new to the board so I may not be the best person to give you advice. What are you doing with it now are you still styling it? My advice would be to leave it alone for a while. Where leave in conditioner and where it in a pony tail. If you can deal with it cut it off and go natural but that is a big step. I have done that before as well cut all my hair off and gone natural but you have to really want to do it. Don't get depressed I know it's hard just try to find the best solutions to your hair problem. Also there are some really nice wigs you can buy to give your hair a break without the damage of putting in a weave.
