I do a hot oil treatment twice a mth, however I deep condition every time I shampoo. This method work very well for me by keeping my hair very moisturized.

In response to your question. I purchase mine from www.artandbodyshop.com you can get 8 0z for $3.00 there. She does accept money orders and as well if you e-mail her. She is based in Stone Mountain, Georgia, so you will have to pay for shippin and handling. she also sells a 8 oz tub of shea butter for $6.00. I love mine. Best of luck to you.
P.S. You can get the sweet almond oil scented with lavender or unscented.
how much was the shipping after it was calculated? did u get the scented or unscented one?

Hot oil treatments are great. They really do make a big difference in my hair (add back moisture and shine). I find that when I do regularly, I have less breakage. Unfortunately, as much of a product junkie as I am, I just don't have the time to do hair treatments as much as I should.
Most of the health food stores in my area carry essential oils. If you have one in your area you may want to try there. Extra Virgin olive oil is great and readily available in most markets. There is also L'Occitane Olive Hair Care Oil for $18 (4.3oz). Ingredients are Olive Oil, grape seed oil, jojoba oil and wheat germ oil.
You can probably order these online or find locally and make your own concoction for far less.

I don't do hot oil by itself. I usually use EVOO with carrot oil and conditioner or I mash up an avocado with the oil. It seems for my hair, oil alone makes it hard and dry.
I usually do hot oil treatments once a month in the summer and twice a month in the winter. I live in Atlanta so I don't do them that much b/c we have warm weather, but in the NOrth the air is usually very cold which causes hair to dry out from the wind and cold temperatures.
