Hi! I am new to posting, but I come here a lot to read and learn. I am fascinated with the multitude of hair attitudes on these boards.ANyway, my question is, how long will it realistically take me to get my chin length bob to shoulder length. I am planning on trying to have it to my shoulders by christmas. It never needs to be cut more than once every 3 months as it is as thick as horse hair and completely repels split ends. My hairstylist tells me not to come so often as it is so healthy it does not need it. So, how long do you think it will take if I am going in for minor trim every 3 months?
Hair grows on average 1/2 inch a month, usually a little more in the summer because of the increase of circulation to the scalp due to the heat. I`d say it will probably take about six months to grow to your shoulders. I have thick, coarse, wavy hair and I was always going to get my hair trimmed(every other month) but then realized my ends looked blunt with no splits so I started waiting longer between trims. I have found the perfect trim schedule for me is every six months and I trim according to the lunar calendar. I will be getting my hair trimmed on July 23rd. my last trim was Jan. but my ends are still thick and healthy. hth

You can probally make it to shoulder length by Christmas...maybe alittle short of that, it really depends on how fast your hair grows:D. :|If your hair grows really slow you might consider hair vitamins to help your hair grow faster.
i had my hair bobed once(blaa that was horrible, i`ll never do that again) and it took 2 1/2years for it to get down to my bra strap but that was with an inch or so getting take off every few months!!
