nervous about cutting my hair short

How long is it right now?

Okay - I'm not trying to talk you out of it, but please remember that once it's gone, it's gone. Yes, it will grow back but it takes a very long time - especially to get it back at the length you are now.  So think carefully before you cut it about how short you really want to go.  Maybe this is something you need to do in stages.  Why don't you try taking a few inches off first, see how you like it and then you can gradually go shorter.  It will be too much of a shock to go from long to short in one sitting.

Some people may disagree with me and just tell you to go for it.  Whatever - it's you that has to live with your hair so just think carefully before cutting.

You'll probably regret it, to be honest, by the sounds of it. If my hair was that long I probably wouldn't cut it...

I know what you're going through. &here is how I felt about my decision. My hair was half way on my butt, such as right in the middle of it. I wanted to cut my hair, but not so short. But then with much thought, I went and had it cut. Oh and this was the summer of 2003. When I came home it'd been cut it all the way to the middle of my back (feathered), which for me was big, so I sobbed over it. But for some people, hair cutting can become an addiction. So my hair grew back to where I am assuming the length you have now. End of April of 2004, I had a urge to cut it even shorter, which I did all the way above my neck bone where I also had japanese straightening done. And cut it twice more between 6&3 months of that.

So the point is, watch out because this can be an additction. I'd suggest thee above, tie it up. You should first cut it short like a trim, or whats best is get layers where you can expirement more since layers, you can tie it up any part and it can look about any length. But this is just an idea. But rememeber..hair cutting=addiction.
