I've never owned a blow dryer that had a cool setting so I've never known exactly how cool the air can be... But it sounds great It would work like air drying. As long as you blow "downward" (pointing towards the ends of your hair) I think it should be fine.
What is wrong with blowdrying your head upside down? I have fine/thin hair and do it all the time....for extra volume. I wouldn't see how it could do any more damage.
There's a theory that blowdrying your hair "upwards" (pointing towards the root of the hair) will blow opposite to the direction of your cuticle ... and possibly cause breakage. Having no personal experience with blowdrying (at least not in the past 8+ years)... I haven't a clue. If it works for you without causing breakage or otherwise, go for it!
So Heidi could flip her head over and blow-dry on the cool setting with
the dryer pointing downwards. That should be okay. And I'm
guessing that the cool setting on your hair dryer means that the
heating elements are not on, so the air coming out is warmed only by
the heat generated by the motor. Give it a whirl and let us know
how it works for you.
We use microfiber towels and then air dry Well, some of us. It takes about the same amount of time to air dry mid-back length hair as it takes for super long hair, because ... just imagine the moisture leaving "outwards" from the hair, instead of leaving "downwards".
Or what I like to do is use a microfiber towel and then damp-braid to set waves, or sock curl to set curls.

Edited to add: however it DOES take "forever" to dry if your hair is thick.
Perhaps it does take forever to dry, but then again, if I don´t have time to dry it, I don´t need to wash it! With long hair, I´ll just put it in a tight bun, with some oil in it for a sleek look, and be on my way!

i hope this isn't a stupid question, but for those of
you who do not blow dry....what do you do? doesn't it take FOREVER to
dry your hair if its long?
I agree with Anais. My hair takes as long to dry now as it did
when it was mid-back length. Depends on the temp and humidity --
and if I'm active, or just sitting around. Anywhere from
2-4 hours, if loose. If I braid it wet, it'll stay damp for a day.

Well i'm finding that the cool mode shoots really really cold hair out....which doesn't help because we onlyhave a bath..no shower...and I try to take cool baths....so I end up cold...But it does leave my hair feeling really soft and not dried out....I really like it..I'd suggest it to anyone!

I miss those days victoria.Short hair has been higher maintenance than my long hair ever was.I'm looking forward to the days when I can just braid it back or put it into a ponytail.
