Well, as you know I reported that I was having trouble with the Extend Magic machine.
What had happened, was I had used it with monofiber to make some pretips and also installed a few in the doll head. Well, you can't use monofiber with this system. The heat plates in the EM melted the monofiber and it all got so hot it melted through the tape in the cartridge. So, basically that cartridge was history, but thankfully the Lees sent are sending me 2 replacement cartridges.
I started practicing with the new tape cartridges when they arrived, and I think I am getting the hang of this thing. I have 2 guinea pigs lined up to test this on, and I'll take pictures as to what it the bonds look like installed in the head.
Ok, my high hopes about this method are restored once again!
Interesting. What is the cartridge aspect of it? What does that do? I was under the impression this thing took hair and then electronically braided it?
That's the braidmagic machine I think. The extendmagic is a fusion looking type bond but its meant to come out as easy as it goes in and its a biggish machine that you use to fuse the client's hair and extension hair together xx

Metalgirl is talking about the extendmagic. There is also a braidmagic and a twistmagic. The braid and the twist electronically braids or twists the hair.
The cartridge is composed of thin films of glue. When heated the glue film bubbles, then the extension and the growing hair are fused altogether. You can press or roll to complete. You press for 5-6 secs, then release the grip. After releasing the grip, the cartridge automatically moves to store the used glue film and expose the new glue film. After fusing about 300 extensions, the used tape cartridge is ready to be disposed and replaced with a new one. Think of this like a white-out tape corrector.
If you can only make nail like tips to get close enough and have to remelt them this isn't like what they said then that you can do so many strands in an hour or whatever, is that what you mean chick xx

Metalgirl, how are you doing with the machine? I'm really impressed with the video on the website, but I have small hands and am wondering if it's big and clumsy.
Also, do you pre-make all the tips and then bond them? They seem to show two different machines on the video. Is that the case? Thanks, christina

Here is a link to extendmagic. Its in chinese but there are lots of pics so you can get an idea of what it is and how it works. Looks interesting. Im assuming the only place to buy it right now is in China or Japan?

Thanks Emma, I was actually more interested in whether it actually worked for her, doing real hair.
I watched the movie and saw how they made the tip then installed, but didn't understand if it was better to make the tip then install it immediately or do them all first. Mostly, I wanted to know if she feels like it's been worth her time and money.
I'm such a sucker for gadgets, I want to buy it really really bad. But we're going to try and get seasonal jobs in Key West this winter, so I'm supposed to be saving my pennies for the overpriced gas, to get there and margaritas of course.
Maybe I should just go take the Pro-Styles class instead. Damn!
