That is so great. You really do have a dream clientelle. It can't have been comfortable to sit in a seat in that bikini... My husband and son want to be Captain Jack Sparrow for halloween, so I'm going to take a bit of inspiration from your work, if you're not bothered.
The main thing is, is the extend magic machine sturdy enough to stand up to a few years of use? I don't really think it's overpriced if its going to work for three or four years..... but if it breaks after five heads I'm screwed.
Of course, I'm not bothered! It is a compliment! My main love is fantasy- anything where my imagination comes alive!
I don't know too much about the machine. It does however have a 1 year warrenty.

So far no one is complaining... One client said she is trying to remove it using conditioner, so far, it's staying! I really have to give it time though.
I really enjoy doing fantasy designs. My client wants a Star Wars wedding and she wants me to design a really cool princess Leia up do! She bought me plastikhaar- in 3 different colors. Her wedding is this October. I did a trial on her orange hair and she wore it for the opening night. And guess what? She also wore the metal bikini to the movies!
Charlene, who did you buy your extendmagic from? I was speaking with the guy from the UK, who wanted $600 for the extendmagic. He did say there was a company in the states selling them. I do want one, but not for $600.
That's a steal for $600!!! I would buy it!!! I got mine on an 'Intro Sale' price. I got in trouble for telling someone how much they gave it to me- so I won't say it. Sorry...
But as Lisa was saying, they are finding the right price.
Speaking of prices, I'm going to take the Great Lengths refresher course and I wish I signed up couple of months ago for $150- now it's at $350.
Lisa- there is a 1 year warranty in the brochures the box came with.
I figured that the monofibre was the cause for this. Thanks, I'm never going to use monofibre with EM.
Say, what if you try dabbing a bit of prosticks and heat seal to make pretips with the mono? Mono turns hard just by heat. Just a suggestion...
I did get my machine for the Korean inventors, as did Charlene.
They are sending me some new tape cartridges yet, as that is what I think is broken. What happened, was I was making pretips with some monofiber, and when heated the monofiber got so hot that it melted the tape in the cartridge. Well, that tape needs to be in a continous loop to be feed through the machine properly, so when I tried to use it after the tape melted, I made a few more extensions, and then the tape began to wind itself around the gear posts inside, thus preventing it from advancing.
So the moral of the story is, don't use monofiber with this machine!
As for pricing, I think that $650 is what Dr. Lee is charging for the machine. I think they are trying to find the right price point, and that's why so many people have been quoted different things. I personally paid $500 for the machine and $125 for 5 tape cartridges.
I think that the price range of $500-700 is perfectly acceptable. Shoot, I have gone to so many classes that don't even give you tools and charge you $1500 just for a one day class. You have to remember, whenever there is a product that you can buy to use to make money yourself, they will always charge a lot for it.
I think that Dr. Lee has spent a lot of money inventing this and getting the patent, so he needs to recoup his investment, it's just plain business sense.

Metal, sorry to hear your machine broke. Did you get yours fromthe same company as Charlene? Will they replace it?
I have some that will travel, and I will also be coming back up here a few times a year.
There is someone here that deals with Prostyles, so I'll find out their
info and forward it to anyone that wants to know I suppose. He is
furthur away from Seattle, but most of my clients travel a fair
distance anyway.
It's really rough starting over, but I have to get out of here. It's
way too expensive for me to exist on my own with the kid. I went
through this same thing when I left NYC. I have major guilt but I have
to life my life.
Charlene! Are you the same Charlene that used to assist me at A.D. Barrett a long long time ago? If that's you, I'm glad you're keeping the faith. Good work.
YES!!! OMG!!!
I knew it was you. How can I forget! You used to do my hair and helped my grow out my short hair cut! I'm hearing great things about Bridget!!! Wish you were still in NYC.

The machine comes with a DVD. It also comes with a small heat wand. What sold me on this machine were the samples I got. It showed a perfectly aligned hair and hair ext. It came in 2 sizes. A wide one and a skinny one. I was totally impressed!
I'm still "in the lab" for this. I feel if those hairdressers who sent me the samples could make their's perfect, then so can I. I am not giving up... not yet!
I think they are a dependable company. I mean they wouldn't give out their cellphone for fun. But we'll see...
Bottom line, I am much interested in companies who offer a method which I can USE ANY HAIR I want. I love all kinds of hair especially the thermo and the cyber!
I have a guniea pig this Sunday and I'll give you the info next week. She has strong healthy hair and claims to have A+ maintance... well see... She's a first timer.
Thankfully one of my D+ clients {her hair is breaking due to home coloring, keeps extensions on till they slide out, just wants me to stick new hair anywhere I can find an empty spot, she's badly dreaded but insist that I don't remove anything} are trying this with the thermo hair. She doesn't do well with Shrink Links or Metals, but does really well with Great Lenghts, Ultra Strands, Cinderella, Cyberhair. So we'll see how she does with my new toy .
