I was looking into getting a weave and I wanted some advice on it from you wonderful ladies. First off, I wanted to know if weaves are actually a protective style. Would I be benefiting my hair by getting a weave or causing setbacks? Is there anyone here that has had extremely good or bad experiences with weaves? Also does anyone know of a good stylist for weaves in the raleigh,durham, chapel hill area? Any advice is good advice

If you are going to use weave, I would say the safest way would be the sew in . That is the technique where you cornrow your own hair and then sew in the wefts with needle and thread. This technique would be considered a protective style.

I definitely agree w/cmesweet on going w/ the sew-in method. IMO, that would be the "safest" way to go. Also, you want to be sure to still wash/cond and moisturize YOUR hair w/ the sew-in.

YES A SEW IN WEAVE WOULD BE BEST DO NOT GET IT GLUE IN OR IT WILL DAMAGE YOUR HAIR. INADDITION TAKE VITAMINS DURING THE TIME YOU HAVE IN THE WEAVE AND THE HAIR GROWTH WILL BE MORE. I NOW HAVE IN A SEW IN WEAVE AND PLAN ON GETTING A SEW IN WEAVE TO ACHIEVE LONGER HAIR. WHEN I DID A SEW IN WEAVE WHEN I WAS YOUNGER MY HAIR GREW SO MUCH LIKE 2 INCHES IN LESS THAN 2 MONTHS MY SISTER WOULD NOT BELIEVE MY HAIR HAD GREW SO MUCH, IN ADDITION I WAS TAKING A HAIR VITAMIN BY ODELA NOW I AM TAKING NATURE MADE SUPER B COMPLEX AND PURTIAN PRIDE AMINO COMPLEX AND MY NEW GROWTH IS COMING IN NICELY AND MUCH SOFTER.
