Hi guys

I was just wondering a few thing about wefts being sewn onto cornrows. What is tha pattern for the rows and are they one continuous braid snaking up your head? Do you have to add extra hair into them to make it stronger? When you sew the weft on do you go around the whole braid and weft or do you go through the weft?Aproximatly how many stitches or how far apart do you put them in a row that goes from ear to ear?

I have someone that does cornrows doing my hair but I am sewing the wefts on myself. Any help would be great we have done them a few times but they only seem to last a couple weeks before they get to loose and have to be taken out.

The pattern of the tracks depends on what you want to accomplish. Some people have their entire head cornrowed in a circle going around their heads with every bit of hair braided, then have wefts sewn on top of that. It's kinda complicated but it ends up looking awesome. BHM board has pictures.

I just have three tracks braided in horizontally all the way across to the hairline with the top one about 2" from the top of my head. The other two are less than an inch apart. She sews the weft on starting at the hairline and goes toward the back of my head, cutting the weft in 2 so she can start the other side in the front also.

When the tracks are too low, they look bad when they start to get loose. It also makes for a fakier look and a possible mullet. Higher up and all the way to your face looks better and lasts longer. This is just my experience, of course. Your mileage may vary.

I don't know, Tigger..sewing the wefts on yourself could be tricky. You need two hands and eyes close up to the track...you might want your friend to sewn the wefts on for you. And you sew them on just like sewing a hem, although most stylists have their own techniques i'm sure. Then when the hair is in, you must have it cut/trimmed/styled so it looks natural and blends with your hair and has some semblance of style.
