QuoteReplyTopic: A few hair Qs... Posted: August 02 2002 at 10:50pm
Please help if you can: 1. How often should I trim my hair (I`m growing it)? 2. Approximately how long will it take my hair to reach my bra strap? Then how long until mid-back? My hair is about 2 inches past shoulders. 3. I was going to get a 24 wash light brown hair color. My hair is naturally blonde (like a mid - dark shade). Will this do much damage to my hair? 4.Whispy bangs - good or bad idea? Thanks in advance!
Love ya, Bubble !

1. I trim mine every six months and only about 1/4 inch each time. I don`t get splits, but if you do just trim those individually. The more you trim off the longer it will take to get longer hair.
2. Hair grows about 6 inches a year...that`s the average. Use that as a guide to how long it will take you.
3. I can`t answer that really.
4. Whispy bangs might look good. I don`t have any bangs but my hair is curly and I just got tired of messing with them. If I had straight hair I might have bangs.

I have medium length hair and I want to cut it so I have whispy like bangs so I look nicer. I always like to wear my hair down. But, I want to look more attractive instead of haggy looking. I have no idea what style to cut it though so I would look and feel nicer. I can't fin anything on how to cut it the way I want it to be cut.

Maybe you could find a hair straightener that would help. Then, once you have straighter hair maybe cut it so you have some bangs. Or, if you want to stay with color hair... Let your hair grow out more and then, find some new hair styles that you feel comfortable with. And, if you don't have highlights maybe you could think of getting some because then your hair would stand out more and people would notice that your hair would look nicer........ I think this might help!
Edited to add: Dummy me wrote this in response to wanting to cut wispy bangs. I wasn't quite awake yet when I read this thread. I do recommend doing the other things though as far as mags and searches for finding a style.

If you can't find pictures online then maybe you can find some in a magazine. Try the magazines that say Hair on them such as Short Hair or Hairdo Ideas or Sophisticates Hairstyleguide. You usually have to find those in a store with an actual magazine rack in another part of the store besides the checkouts. Stores like Walmart have some. One magazine that usually has some good hairstyle pics is First For Women. They won't have as many as the other ones but you might find one.
Just because a picture shows short hair doesn't mean you have to get the whole haircut. You can just get the bangs in the picture.
They all pretty much give the same pictures but one might have one that's different.
Wispy bangs are meant to look like they were cut uneven. This means just simply take small, and I do mean small, pieces of hair that you know for sure you want to be bangs and just snip them off. It might be a good idea to snip them longer than you want them first and then after you have all the bangs cut once and in a shape you like, you can then take each piece again and snip them shorter. It's better to do this on dry hair. If you wet the hair it's going to spring up shorter when it dries.
Make sure you use scissors meant for hair that have only cut hair.
