Blonde dye instead of bleaching?

Oh yeah I'm new, but Ive been looking at this board for the longest!

Well anyway my natural hair color is black but using hi-lifting dye I raised it to a reddish brown. The problem is I've been wanting light brown for the longest!So I was thinking using the same hi-lifting hair color, couldn't I just dye it blonde then dye it a golden brown?

Please any suggestions would be very helpful, I really don't want to bleach!

regular hair dye wont lighten your hair the way you want it to.. why dont u try some high lights instead if you dont want to bleach your whole head.
