QuoteReplyTopic: want hair redder Posted: October 10 2005 at 9:43am
ive been dying my hair a med golden brown for a while now, i put a reddish brown over it and it turned out pretty good, but now i want it more red. is their anything i can do to just lighten my hair slightly so i can put a brighter red on it. Id rather not bleach it, but im looking to have more red than brown. any help would be really great
just another question.... if bleach were the only option, would it be best to just do all over redder highlighting? just to avoid as much damage as possible?

What is your original hair color? If you could continue to do the roots a light red, and then you'll have redder hair each time. Also, instead of bleaching, you could try a red color depositing conditioner on your head and that will make your hair more red. I really love the Biolage Earth Tones Conditioner in Real Red.
When I used to have true red hair, I always used the L'Oreal line of intense reds, and also Feria in the red shades.
Goodluck!
BTW, my original/base color is dark brown, almost black, and the intense reds and Feria (L'Oreal) lifted my color really well, without bleach!
**Hair type: 2a, which is wavy and fine.
**Color: Naturally dark brown, currently dyed reddish brown.
**Length: below shoulder length
thanks for your response.. my natural color is a light reddish brown, i have been using the artec orange marigold shampoo, i really love it, its just not vivid enough cuz i have that med brown permanent color on.

oooh i have that same shampoo in orange marigold! It works sooo well on my orange red hair, it actually gives me dimensional high lighhts! Since i've been using that, pple keep complimenting on my hair...i think the trick is to choose the artec color depositing shampoo that closest to ur hair color. Like u say red brown, that sounds like its on the slightly darker side, so why not try red clover?
