QuoteReplyTopic: Great experience at a salon!! Posted: October 12 2005 at 1:06am
Hi everyone, I finally did it. I went to my first salon visit in 2 1/2 years. It was so weird walking in there but I was put at ease right away. I decided to go ahead and relax again (I know Cmesweet, just kick me!!) and have my ends trimmed. Well first let my tell you the place is Egyptian owned and operated and they are ALL men!! (not bad looking either if I say so myself!)
They used Affirm and never once did I burn. He worked very quick and I was rinsed in no time. He applied the 5 in 1 reconstructor, rinsed again and then used conditioner. He sat me under a steam dryer for 15 minutes, rinsed and I was whisked away to my future husband's chair to be blow dried. Again, not once was I burned. I hardly felt the hot air. He asked if I wanted a trim; after a chill went up my spine (I get nervous about trims), I agreed and he trimmed about an inch on the bottom later (It's now a little past collar bone in the front and longer in the back.), which I didn't mind. After he flat-ironed my hair and I saw the finished product, my jaw dropped!
My hair feels soooo silky!! It's shiny, it moves very easily and the trim looks GREAT!!! I don't want to post pictures until the end of the Grow-Out Challenge but if you can imagine Amerie or Kimora Simmons hair, that's what it feels and looks like. I'm very pleased with the results and the service. I will definitely be going back for my trims (whenever that will be) and my next touch-up due in March!!

That sounds like a great salon. I wish I had one where I live. I'm glad you had a good salon experience. I know it can be scary sometimes! I'm going to be going next week sometime for a wet set and for some reason I'm nervous about just getting that, but I heard the lady is good and uses a lot of natural products. Trims scare me too.....oh my gosh! I just got one and she cut way more off than i expected.
no kicking here!!! I'm glad you enjoyed yourself and had a great visit. I wish they had Egyptian hair salons here or Dominican ones here...I really want to try one. The natural stylists here that i have found, charge 85 dollars and up for what I do at home. So go ahead and do what you do girl! NO HATING here besides, like I always say you will transition when you feel the time is right.
Your hair sounds pretty by the way. Did you notice alot of growth?
o man u mustve been in hair heaven lolol!! i would
have been embarrased with men woking on me ,
esp hot egyptian ones!! im jealous lol,, ur makin me

go just this week and next week ill do it myself again
Hair type: 3b some c?, fine strands, last relaxer sept 05, never again!!! current :ap length on sides,,nearly bsl in back, damn those old frazzled ends! I am hair OBSESSED
Yeah I had a good time! I had such a great time, I took my mom in today to have her hair done!! She loved it! Her hair came out sooo pretty. She has very fine soft hair. Her stylist told her not to put her hair into buns like she has been because it's so fine it will break off. He said to just use a plastic clip and loosely pin it up. I don't even think she heard him, she was gawking at him the whole time!
Cmesweet, thanks for not kicking me!! Before I went it I notice I had probably 2 inches or so of new growth from 13 weeks. Not bad. The shampoo guy told me I had extremely thick new growth. My hair was trimmed pretty good so some of that went away, but the great thing is I don't really care about losing that length because my hair looks and feels really healthy with a nice trim. I looked at it today and it has set me back alittle but it looks good and it's longer than it was a few months ago!! I told myself I'm waiting until March for my next touch up and trim, but I might just sneak back in some time soon! (For visual purposes only!!).
You know what Cookies, in the past, when me and my mom would go to the salon every few weeks, I wasn't as picky with who I let do my hair. I would just take anybody. But I noticed, and this may be just me, but my hair has always come out better when a man does it. I don't know why that is, but it's true!! (He doesn't have to be gay either, contrary to the stereotype)
i am so glad that you had a pleasant hair experience- i am debating as to whether or not i will have the energy to go and get my hair done on friday- cause ya know saturday is totally out of the question. wish i could have had those handsome egyptian men working on me girl- i'm envying you. But take care and i can't wait for next month's report.
Me and you, your cousin and your momma too rollin on da strip on bow's
