Yes you can use Rusk. Rusk is designed for curly or frizzie hair. It doesn't completely straighten the hair, it relaxes the hair. That means that instead of having to blow dry and flat iron everyday, you can do it twice a week and have perfectly straight, frizz free hair the whole week. You can also try L'oreal x-tenso. It is their newest product and it is still not available in the US. But you can find it on ebay. There is a seller who ships it from Canada. It is supposed to be great. And it is also for curly hair, not African American hair. They won't work on that type of hair. You can find information about x-tenso in Verticalsinhair.com.

Will you still have to blow dry your hair. Probably. Depending on your type of hair. The good thing is that if you don't blow dry your curls will be looser, smoother and shiny. The only relaxer treatment which will eliminate the need to blow dry is Thermal reconditioning. It is really expensive to have it done. It starts at about $500 and it goes up depending on lenght. You have to make sure you get an expert to do your hair, otherwise you will end up with a disaster like I did. So you would have to do alot of reasearch before getting it done. And your hair will only be completely straight if its natural state is wavy. If it is really curly, you will still have to blow dry to make it straight. But once blow dried it will stay straight no matter what. However I get the same results by relaxing my hair with Rusk. I blow dry and flat iron with my Sedu iron twice a week only. And have straight frizz free hair the entire time. And I live in Miami. So for my type of hair which is 3b, very curly and frizzie Rusk works much better than thermal reconditioning, and it is $585 dollars cheaper.

You can do it at home but must use the right tools and follow directions the T. The product should never touch your scalp as this could result on severe damage and cause permanent hair loss. You must a apply the product with a tinting brush and when coming it, you must use a high quality wide tooth come such as a Mason Pearson come. Why, because it has polished teeth, unlike regular cheap comes, which have thos sharp plastic ridges on the inside of the teeth. These rigdes destroy the scales on your hair shaft. It literally rips them away. Leaving you with damaged frizzie hair, that is unable to properly hold on to color, or protein treatments. If you do not feel confident that you can do it yourself without getting product on your scalp, or overprocessing hair, the get it professionally done.

All that being said, the most important thing if you want to save time is to have the right tools. I have a Hai ceramic tourmaline hair dryer, and a Sedu Ceramic tourmaline flat iron. They are expensive, but worth every penny. My hair dryer dries my hair 60% faster that my old cheap dryer. And the best thing is, you hair is dried totally frizz free and super smooth. It takes me about 10 minutes to flat iron my hair completely straight with my Sedu flat iron. One or two swipes is all it takes, and you hair is left pin straight and totally frizz free and will stay that way until the next time you wash it. I got my dryer for $79 dollars on ebay, which is a great deal considering is about $120 everywhere else. And I bought my flat iron from folica.com.

You can read my post on "the fight against humidity", in this forum, if you want to know my hair regimen and what kind of products I use to keep my hair healthy.

Well good luck.

Hello,

Everyone here seems so knowledgeable, I was hoping that perhaps someone could share some info that would be helpful. I am white, but have curly/frizzy hair. I am very tired of blow-drying and ironing my hair straight, especially since I always have to blow-dry before ironing, and this takes lots of time. I was considering using some type of an at-home chemical relaxer, but I know very little about what works, and was hoping to get some input here. I did some searching on the internet, and everything that I found was for African American women. Are there at home relaxer treatments that anyone knows off that work well for white women?

I did read through some of the posts here, and it seems like Rusk is getting good reviews. Can I use Rusk being white? Are there any other good relaxers that anyone can recommend? Can any of them be done at home?

Also, will I still need to blow-dry/flat iron after relaxing my hair? I am sorry if any of these are silly questions, I am just kind of new to this… all I want is easy maintenance straight hair, if that is even possible.,

Any thoughts/advice would be very much appreciated… Thanks in advance!

!
