i used to have about earlobe length hair that was quite thick although my hair is naturally a little thinner, i used to go to the barber and say "cut it thick" and it worked but i recently grew out my hair with home done trims and now that it shoulder length it is very thin and i was wondering if there was a way to make my hair thicker without gel or spray and possibly not getting it cut at a salon (i just grew it out) but if that is that answer i am looking for what should i tell the stylist to do differently (also, is there a more technical way to say "cut it thick"?)
"cut it thick"? I'm confused. Cutting does not make hair thicker. Hair thickness is purely genetic. However the "hemline" of your hair will make a difference. If your hair is cut straight across, then it will definitely feel thicker than if it was a V shape.
Brushing your hair with a boar bristle brush (bottom of page for guide) (and Hairboutique sells some) can help fluff everything up, as long as your hair is not wavy or curly.
Longer hair also gets pulled down under its own weight, which can make hair look thinner. If your hair is naturally thin, that makes it even more noticeable.
