QuoteReplyTopic: Great Lengths Posted: November 06 2005 at 7:48pm
I am new to this forum and have only visited a few times. I am getting Great Lengths November 21 for my wedding in January. I want to know what you like and don't like about Great Lengths. I don't know anything about hair extensions -- just that I wanted to get them for the wedding! Any help would be appreciated. I am just wanting to know what I need to look out for! Thanks!

I think you just need to watch out for things like the stylist telling you they can be worn for longer than 3 months. If they say six months which is what alot of them think run! lol. That seems to be the biggest concern. If worn too long you can get bad matts, plus your natural hair will have shed alot meaning the bond could potentially be hanging on by a few hairs (ouch).
If done right though they can look perfect.Plus another thing to note is if the stylist cuts the pretip down. That seems to help with looking even more seamless and cutting down on your strands being weighed down to much.If too much hair is attached to your real hair it can cause stress.Resulting in sores,or even pulling out hair by the roots. I think its all about finding a competent stylist. And getting the best deal. The cheapest I've seen them is $800.But I've also seen people pay over $4000.So I'd check around and get consults with people in your area offering it.See who seems most skilled, best price,etc..
Its your wedding and I'm sure you want to look your absolute best.As good as great lengths can be keep in mind they can also be very bad if not done right. And unfortunately that seems to happen all too often. So do your research before taking the leap.Good luck. And welcome to the board.

I got great lengths before I got married and they were in almost 1 1\2 months before the blessed event and my hair (although it still looked good) was not as nice as when it was new so if I were you I would not put them in until December, it could have been who installed mine however and yours might look just as lovely! Good luck!

Thanks for all of the replies! I am getting them done exactly 2 months before the wedding, and then she wants me to come back in a couple weeks before the wedding to switch some of the extensions out (the ones that look bad) and cut my hair. She said they would last 4-6 months but I'd have to go in every so often to get the extensions switched out and new ones put in. I am paying $1100 for the extensions so that seems to be normal I think? I am just getting them for volume and not length so I think that's why it's not $3000! :)
I was nervous after reading some of the threads about hair extensions and how they damage your hair so thank you so much for the replies!
