It makes no difference that TEA-lauryl sulfate is dervied from coconut oil, as are many shampoo detergents and lather-formers. Hair companies list that little parenthetical afterthought to make people think that natural-sounding ingredients are somehow safer and gentler, which is certainly not always the case. And ALL TEA-lauryl sulfate is from coconut; some manufacturers just choose to throw in that extra info for show. I recommend staying away from that ingredient, period.

I was just reading about how the ingredient TEA-Lauryl Sulfate in shampoos can dry out your hair.
But what about when it lists TEA-Lauryl Sulfate (From Coconut Oil) on the label. Is this form any better for your hair or does it have the same harsh effect and should not be used?
