I got a perm awhile back to try and add a little body to my long hair (it was to the middle of my back)Well, I made one big mistake because the perm ruined my hair. It`s now dry as straw and to my chin and looks bad. On top of it all, my husband begged me not to do it. He loves long hair and so do I but I was so obessed with the idea that I did it anyway I got a change all right. I feel like I lost my covering and it`s very humilitating. I`m very tall and I feel much better with long hair. I`m starting the long journey of trying to grow it out again. Sorry for the long, sob story... Any advise? Thank you!

Dear Deanne Jo

I feel really upset for you.
Here are some things you might like to try:

For the dryness: After washing and air-drying your hair, apply a little neat shea butter to the straw-like parts (not near the scalp - its too rich).

For speeding up growth: Hair formula 37 or similar hair supplement.

For your morale: How about tying your hair in a small bun on the nape of your neck, if you are able. This way you wouldn`t be constantly aware of the lack of length.

Thank you for the support. I really appreciate it. I know hair is not everything but... my hair was long for 10 years. I have that to be grateful for. I feel kind of sick when I look back on those pictures because I realize now that my hair was long and beautiful. Thanks again.
