Well I did it but the wrong way. I now have to cut some of my hair but am an experience richer.

So don't do it my way which is bleach after bleach...

Stripping your hair with color remover might not get all the black out so then the end result would be that the hair would need further lightening using bleach then toning it to an acceptable color. It could be very damaging to your hair going up that many levels in color. I wouldn't recommend doing it all in one step. Go to a light brown possibly then lighter down the road. As for cutting the so called "DEAD HAIR" I don't quite understand that since all your hair is dead anyway...LOL Dead ends, split ends whatever you want to call them don't impact new hair growth at all. Having nicely trimmed ends of hair does provide for a nice professional image though. You don't want fried ends of hair. If they are telling you a process is going to fry your hair and you will hafta cut off the ends then it's also going to damage the rest of your hair too. Go gradually lighter and deep condition and take good care of your hair as you go along.

I'm no expert at going from dark to light, so I'll let the diy experts here help you on that.

The one thing I do know is that hair never stops growing whether it's colored or not. If it did, none of us would ever have to do our roots.

Hello!
I would absolutely be flattered if someone who has had experience with this before, or understands what I am talking about could help me out. I currently am a lady of black hair, it is quite short, shoulder length I suppose. Anyway, I used to have long blonde hair, and although I love the black, I would like to go back blonde and grow it out. However, I am willing to spend the money to have my hair repeatedly stripped to get out the black so I can go back to my light, natural hair color, however, I am worried that it is not worth the damage. Once my hair is stripped and blonde, I was told the so called "dead" hair would need to be cut before I can grow it, but at the moment, I don't have the hair to cut! Is there anyway I can keep my hair the length it is and keep it protected as well as removing the color for it? Or should I try to slowly color my hair back to lighter? Ex. Go a dark brown, then a light brown, and so on?
Please help. It would be greatly appreciated!
