please dont get layers. you just said you got half way to your hair goal, so don`t mess up your hair now! i had layers put in in the spriong and i`m still trying to grow them out. after about a week my hair looded like someone had chewed on the ends! they are hard to maintain and require frequent trims.

I second Ladykera.

How many times we hear that people wait to grow out their layers to get anywhere with their hair!

Hi Liz Naz, I have long layers in my hair and I love them. It takes some time to learn how to style layers if you have never had them. Here is a few suggestions:

For a easy wavy look without blowdrying: (5mins)

After I condition wash my hair at night I apply a serum or smoothing gel and comb it back straight and put in up in a scrunchie bun ontop of my head (loosely) and wrap the length under the scrunchie and go to sleep. In the morning when I take down my hair the top is smooth and straight and the length has a nice wavy look. I apply a little glossing gel for hold and shine. I found this worked by accident after I fell asleep with my wet hair in a scunchie - Its a great look.

For a straight sleeker look (15-30 mins):

When my hair is slightly damp and after applying my hair stuff - I blow dry my hair in sections using a very large round brush (its huge) with the brush under the hair, pulled straight and ends wrapped underneath the brush - this creates a fuller straight look. For a funker look, I place the brush ontop of the hair and the ends are wrapped over the bottom of the brush. The length will dry straight and the ends will flip out. Both ways work really well and sometimes I use both styles by blowing the top layers under and the length flipped out or reverse it. I alway apply serum after its dry.

I enjoy styling my hair and having different looks - so layers works well for me. Hope this helped alittle.

I have layers and I love them. My hair is really thick, so I have long layers in the back of my head and on the sides. I also have pieces that are slightly angled by my face. They help my hair to have some movement. If I don`t feel like drying my hair, I`ll put spray gell in my hair after I get out of the shower. Then I`ll either keep it down or half of it back. Then I`ll scruch it a few times all over and let it air dry (I have a little bit of a natural wave to my hair). If I do blow it dry, I`ll section off my hair and use a round brush to straighten my hair as I dry it. I`ll go from section to section, it makes it easier to get all of you hair dry. I`m not good at curling the ends under as I dry my hair, so I have a round brush that acts as a blow dryer. After my hair is straight, I`ll mist my ends with leave in conditionar and use the drying brush to curl my ends under (Conar makes the the curling brush, it also has a curling iron attachment as well).
Layers aren`t too much trouble, once you figure out how you want to wear it.
Hope this helps!

ya, getting layers is often similar to getting a goat to trim your hair for you. Lol.
