QuoteReplyTopic: I got sew-in extensions!!! Posted: December 26 2005 at 6:44pm
I love, love LOVE them!!
She used human hair, two different colors, a deeper color that was #33 Dark auburn and a blonde, I think Bleach blonde #613. It is SO nice!! I'm hooked!!
It said Mink but 100% Human hair. What does that mean? Hair from a mink mixed in?? It may need a little styling but I'm happy with just having long flowing hair for now.

None of it is my real hair. She braided everything and sewed the extensions into them. She kept asking if it was too tight but explained if she didn't do it a bit tight, especially at the bottom, it would come out with it being so short.
I was amazed at how much nicer it feels. She took it out and let me touch it before she put it in and OMG I just fell in love with it. Beats the heck out of $9.99 Sally's hair.
My neighbors came home while I was out walking my dogs around and they all came over oohing and aahing over it and couldn't believe none of it was my hair.
Details! Details! Did she do horizontal or vertical braids? Did she do the "reverse method" around the part or did she use a closure? It looks absolutely awesome!
It must not have taken long - you said your appointment was at 5:00 and you posted pics at 7:44!

I was sort of turned so I couldn't see much of the braiding. It's pretty tight though and a bit itchy underneath but I suppose you get used to it.
She did horizontal braids from what I could see on the opposite mirror across from me. First, she sewed in the dark auburn all the way around the bottom and then worked her way up with another section of auburn and then blonde and a bit more auburn up towards the top. She just closed it all in from what I could tell. There's a section in the middle at the top of my head that has the little braids or knots it looks like where she closed it all in.
She called and said she was going to be done with her client before me at 4:30 so I went early and she was done by 6 but I had to go get my son at his friend's house and walk our dogs before I could post pictures.
I just had it trimmed up and styled a bit this afternoon. My stylist just cut off the ends and then tapered the sides in toward my face a bit and curled it with a big barreled curling iron. It looks even better now. My stylist said in a few days the oils from my hair should make the little wispies up there lay down more.

It's all braided in. I have no idea how to explain what she did. It seems she just sewed in a big circle all around my head until she ran out of hair and then she would tie that in and start with a new piece.
Let me see if I can get a pic of the top up close so ya'all can see and maybe even tell me what she did. HAHA

So do the tracks go across the top of your head from left to right or are they in a U shape? So you have none of your "head Hair" out, it is all braided in?
How is the itchyness? Have you washed it yet? Can you wear it up at all?
Sorry for so many questions, but just really curious. It looks great!!! Like it is just growing out of your head!!!

It seems like they are in a U shape around the sides and back but on top are just left to right. None of my hair is out except a couple of wisps on the side that she left out.
It's quite itchy. I have been reading about some putting some kind of oil on their scalp and rubbing it in for this but don't know. I'm kind of worried it might make the hair oily and greasy looking. I haven't washed it. She suggested leaving it a couple of days at least to let my natural oils sort of help the wispier stuff lay down a bit. My hair was too short for her to make it so I can wear a high ponytail. She said if my hair had been longer she could have. I tie it back with a silk scrunchie at night just at the nape of my neck.
I really like it! My boyfriend said it looks good but he's upset about me spending the money. Oh well, I told him. This is my self esteem we're dealing with and I'm quite happy now.
