I like cocoa butter because it smells nice and it seems to do a good job of smoothing scars. Neva tried the shea butter but heard about it . What does it smell like?
cocoa butter might make you break out even worse. Try opaltech77's products. they're a store on ebay that offers skin lighteners , acid peels and exfoliants.
Proactive is also good to keep acne from forming. See opaltech's website below, and proactive is probably proactive.com or do a search on yahoo. Both are very good products.
I have heard that cocoa butter can clog pores on the face. I like Vitamine E oil, Callendula infused oil and Lavender are for scars they helps the are great at skin regeration.
let your beauty be natural!!

Yeah, cocoa butter is good for acne scars and other dark spots. Just b sure u get PURE cocoa butter, not one with a lot of other ingredients & fillers. I like the Palmers 100% pure cocoa butter stick..easy to apply and works great. You can get it at Walmart or other drugstores. ~hth~
